Abstract

A method and system for parking vehicles such as cars in a space saving manner. A first vehicle is positioned so that its driver side is substantially unobstructed and an operator can enter and exit the vehicle via its driver side. A second vehicle is positioned substantially parallel to the first vehicle with the passenger side of the second vehicle adjacent to and spaced at a close distance to the passenger side of the first vehicle. A third vehicle is positioned substantially parallel to the second vehicle with the driver side of the third vehicle adjacent to and spaced at a close distance to the driver side of the second vehicle. This pattern is repeated to achieve an efficient spacing of vehicles. A system for facilitating a space-saving arrangement of vehicles includes parallel lines for positioning adjacent vehicles and visible indicia for indicating a relative orientation of adjacent vehicles.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for parking a row of vehicles each having a driver side and a passenger side in a parking area in a space-saving manner, the method comprising the steps of:
 (a) positioning a first vehicle in the parking area, wherein a driver side of the first vehicle is substantially unobstructed so that an operator may enter and exit the first vehicle; (b) positioning a second vehicle substantially parallel to the first vehicle, wherein a passenger side of the second vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a first distance from a passenger side of the first vehicle; and (c) positioning a third vehicle substantially parallel to the second vehicle, wherein a driver side of the third vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a second distance from a driver side of the second vehicle; wherein said first distance is smaller than said second distance.

2 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of positioning the passenger side of the second vehicle at a distance of approximately four inches to twelve inches from the passenger side of the first vehicle.

3 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of positioning the driver side of the third vehicle at a distance of approximately two and one half to three feet from the driver side of the second vehicle.

4 . The method according to claim 1 , further comprising the step of positioning the driver side of the third vehicle at a distance from the driver side of the second vehicle sufficient for an operator to enter and exit the second and third vehicle.

       5 . A method for parking a row of vehicles each having two sides in a parking area in a space-saving manner, the method comprising the steps of;
 (a) positioning a first vehicle in the parking area facing in a first direction, wherein a first side of the first vehicle is substantially unobstructed so that an operator may enter and exit the first vehicle; (b) positioning a second vehicle substantially parallel to the first vehicle and facing in a second direction opposite the first direction, wherein a first side of the second vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a first distance from a second side of the first vehicle; and (c) positioning a third vehicle substantially parallel to the second vehicle and facing in the first direction, wherein a first side of the third vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a second distance from a second side of the second vehicles; wherein said first distance is smaller than said second distance.

6 . The method according to claim 5 , further comprising the step of positioning the first side of the second vehicle at a distance of approximately four inches to twelve inches from the second side of the first vehicle.

7 . The method according to claim 5 , further comprising the step of positioning the first side of the third vehicle at a distance of approximately two and one half to three feet from the second side of the second vehicle.

8 . A system for facilitating the parking of vehicles in a parking area in a space saving manner, the system comprising:
a plurality of pairs of spaced apart visible parallel lines disposed on a surface of the parking area, wherein each of said pairs of spaced apart visible lines is for aligning a pair of sides of a vehicle and wherein adjacent pairs of spaced apart visible lines are spaced to position a side of a vehicle in close proximity to an adjacent side of an adjacent vehicle; and a plurality of visible indicia for regulating a direction a particular parked vehicle is to be faced, wherein each of said visible indicia is associated with one of said plurality of pairs of spaced apart visible lines and each of said visible indicia indicate a direction opposite to each adjacent visible indicia.

9 . The system according to claim 8 wherein said plurality of pairs of spaced apart visible parallel lines comprise solid lines for aligning a pair of tires of a vehicle.

10 . The system according to claim 8 wherein said plurality of pairs of spaced apart visible parallel lines comprise dashed lines for aligning a pair of tires of a vehicle.

11 . The system according to claim 8 , wherein each of said visible indicia comprises signage disposed at a terminal end of said pairs of spaced apart visible lines wherein said signage indicates that a front of a vehicle should face said terminal end.

12 . The system according to claim 8 , wherein each of said visible indicia comprises signage disposed in proximity to a line of each of said pairs of spaced apart visible lines, wherein said signage indicates that a driver side of a vehicle should face said line.

13 . The system according to claim 8 , wherein each of said visible indicia comprises signage disposed in proximity to a line of each of said pairs of spaced apart visible lines, wherein said signage indicates that a passenger side of a vehicle should face said line.

14 . A method for parking a row of vehicles each having a driver side and a passenger side in a parking area in a space-saving manner, the method comprising the steps of:
 (a) positioning a first vehicle in the parking area, wherein a driver side of the first vehicle is substantially unobstructed so that an operator may enter and exit the first vehicle; (b) positioning a second vehicle substantially parallel to the first vehicle, wherein a passenger side of the second vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a first distance from a passenger side of the first vehicle; and (c) positioning a third vehicle substantially parallel to the second vehicle, wherein a driver side of the third vehicle is adjacent to and spaced at a second distance from a driver side of the second vehicle; wherein said first distance is not sufficient to allow a person to enter and exit the first vehicle and the second vehicle and said second distance is sufficient to allow a person to enter and exit the second vehicle and the third vehicle.
