Method and device for wrapping multi-sheet printed products
Abstract
A device for wrapping multi-sheet printed products includes a conveyor carrying a multi-sheet printed product, a first rotating drum having a first exterior surface with at least one surface indentation, and a second rotating drum having a second exterior surface, the second roattaing drum interacting with the first rotating drum at a first nip. A first wrapping supply provides first wrapping to the first nip on one side of a multi-sheet printed product and a second wrapping supply provides second wrapping to the first nip on another side of the multi-sheet printed product. A method for wrapping a multi-sheet printed product is aslo provided.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A device for wrapping multi-sheet printed products comprising:
a conveyor carrying a multi-sheet printed product; a first rotating drum having a first exterior surface with at least one surface indentation; a second rotating drum having a second exterior surface, the second roattaing drum interacting with the first rotating drum at a nip; a first wrapping supply providing first wrapping to the nip on one side of a multi-sheet printed product; and a second wrapping supply providing second wrapping to the nip on another side of the multi-sheet printed product.
2 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein the second exterior surface has a second indentation, the first and second indentations lining up in the nip.
3 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein one of the first or second rotating drums has a knife to cut the first and second wrappings, and the other of the first and second rotating drums has an anvil interacting with the knife.
4 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of the first and second rotating drums are heated to melt the first and second wrapping together around the printed product.
5 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein the first wrapping and second wrapping are continuous films.
6 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein the first and second exterior surfaces crimp the first and second wrappings together.
7 . The device as recited in claim 1 wherein the conveyor is a gripper conveyor
8 . The device as recited in claim 7 wherein the gripper conveyor has grippers releasing the printed products above the nip.
9 . The device as recited in claim 1 further comprising a full bag sensor downstream from the nip.
10 . A method for forming bags around multi-sheet printed products comprising the steps of:
delivering a multi-sheet printed product to a nip of two drums between two wrappings passing through the nip; passing the multi-sheet printed product and two wrappings through the drum; and sealing the two wrappings around the printed product using the nip so as to form a bag around the multi-sheet printed product.
11 . The method as recited in claim 10 further comprising cutting the bag.
12 . The method as recited in claim 10 wherein the bag is closed at both ends.
13 . The method as recited in claim 10 wherein the multi-sheet product is a newspaper.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
