Abstract

An improved catch basin is disclosed. The invention comprises a plurality of angled side walls which converge on a bottom wall, said basin being placed at a location within a waterway to collect sediment or sand; a plurality of apertures on the bottom of the basin permit the removal of sediment; a plurality of pipes, each affixed at a first end to the at least one said aperture; a pumping system affixed to the second ends of the pipes to remove the sediment or sand from the basin; a screen affixed over the top of the basin to block debris.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for collecting the flow of sand or sediment comprising:
a basin having a bottom and sidewalls, said basin being constructed from a pre-cast concrete or composite material, said basin being placed into position and erected in the desired location in a water inlet predetermined to collect sand or sediment.

2 . The system for collecting the flow of sand or sediment of claim 1 further comprising an aperture located on the bottom of the basin to permit the removal of said sand or sediment.

       3 . A catch basin comprising:
a base structure having a bottom and a plurality of angled side walls, said bottom having at least one aperture; an external pipe affixed at a first end to the at least one aperture; and a pumping system affixed to the second end of the pipe to remove the sediment or sand from the basin.

       4 . A catch basin comprising:
a plurality of angled side walls which converge with a bottom wall, said basin being placed at a predetermined location within a waterway to collect sediment or sand; a plurality of apertures on the bottom wall of the basin to permit the removal of sediment or sand from the basin; a plurality of external pipes, each affixed at a first end to an aperture; a pumping system affixed to the second ends of the pipes to remove the sediment or sand from the basin; a screen affixed over the top of the basin to block debris and prevent the intrusion of sealife; a guide affixed to both ends of the basin to direct sand and sediment into the catch basin.
