Bag including lockable handle

Abstract

A bag defining an interior space and an opening. The bag includes a closing member which is connected to the body. The closing member is movable between a first position, which allows access to the interior space of the body through the opening, and a second position which prevents access to the interior space of the body through the opening. The bag includes a handle and at least one lockable member connected to an end of the handle. The handle includes at least one removable end. The lockable member of the handle is adapted to secure and lock the closing member and the removable end of the handle to the body when the closing member is moved to the second position to protect the bag and the items contained in the bag from being taken.

1 . A bag comprising: 
 a body defining an interior space and an opening;    a closing member connected to the body, the closing member being movable to a first position to allow access to the interior space through the opening and to a second position to substantially inhibit access to the interior space through the opening;    a handle connected to the body, the handle having a least one removable end; and    a lockable member connected to the removable end of the handle, wherein the lockable member engages the closing member and the body to lock the closing member to the body when the closing member is in the second position.    
   
   
       2 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the lockable member includes a combination lock.  
   
   
       3 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the lockable member is integrally formed with the handle.  
   
   
       4 . The bag of  claim 1 , which includes a securing member connected to the body, wherein the lockable member engages the closing member and the securing member to simultaneously lock the removable end of the handle and the closing member to the securing member when the closing member is in the second position.  
   
   
       5 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the lockable member defines an opening, the opening being sized to receive a key which locks and unlocks the lockable member.  
   
   
       6 . The bag of  claim 1 , which includes a removable lock that is attachable to the removable end of the handle, the closing member and the body.  
   
   
       7 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the body includes a front wall, a rear wall side walls and a bottom wall which are connected together.  
   
   
       8 . The bag of  claim 7 , wherein at least one cover is attached to at least one of the walls.  
   
   
       9 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the closing member includes a zipper having a plurality of opposing mating dividers connected to the body and a zipper pull movable connected to each of the plurality of dividers, the zipper pull including a tab, wherein the tab enables the zipper pull to be moved between the first position and the second position.  
   
   
       10 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of at least one of the body and the handle includes a reinforcer.  
   
   
       11 . The bag of  claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the reinforcer includes a metal.  
   
   
       12 . The bag of  claim 10 , wherein at least a portion of the reinforcer includes a fabric material.  
   
   
       13 . The bag of  claim 1 , wherein the lockable member further includes a removable lock that is attachable to the handle, the closing member and the body.  
   
   
       14 . A bag comprising: 
 a body defining an interior space;    a closing member connected to the body, the closing member being movable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the open position allows access to the interior space of the body, and the closed position substantially inhibits access to the interior space of the body; and    a lock connected to the closing member, wherein the lock is secured and locked to the body when the closing member is in the closed position.    
   
   
       15 . The bag of  claim 14 , wherein the closing member includes a cover.  
   
   
       16 . The bag of  claim 15 , wherein at least a portion of at least one of the cover and the body includes a reinforcer.  
   
   
       17 . The bag of  claim 14 , wherein the lock includes a combination lock.  
   
   
       18 . A bag comprising: 
 a body defining an interior space;    a closing member movably connected to the body, the closing member being movable to a first position to allow access to the interior space and to a second position to substantially inhibit access to the interior space;    a security member connected to the body, said security member having at least one removable end which is removably connected to the body; and    a lockable member connected to the security member, wherein the lockable member engages the closing member and the body to lock the closing member and the security member to the body when the closing member is in the second position.    
   
   
       19 . The bag of  claim 18 , wherein the lockable member includes at least one of: a combination lock and a key lock.  
   
   
       20 . The bag of  claim 18 , which includes a handle connected to the body, the handle having a least one removable end.  
   
   
       21 . A method of securing and locking a bag, wherein the bag includes a body defining an interior space and an opening, a closing member movably connected to the body, a handle having at least one end which is removably connected to the body and a lockable member connected to the removable end of the handle, said method comprising the steps of: 
 moving the closing member from an open position to a closed position to substantially inhibit access to the interior space through the opening;    securing the lockable member to the closing member and the body; and    locking the lockable member to lock the removable end of the handle and the closing member to the body.    
   
   
       22 . A method of securing and locking a bag, wherein the bag includes a body defining an interior space and an opening, a closing member movably connected to the body and a security member having at least one removable end which is removably connected to the body and a lock connected the removable end, said method comprising the steps of: 
 moving the closing member from an open position to a closed position to substantially inhibit access to the interior space through the opening;    securing the lock of the security member to the closing member and the body; and    locking the lock of the security member to lock the closing member to the body.
