Video data processing and processor arrangements
Abstract
Consistent with one aspect, a circuit arrangement performs a variety of operations for tasks relating to motion and includes one or more ALU components. One such circuit arrangement is adapted to provide a picture phone that includes: a telephone transceiver; a camera; a display; a digital signal processor (DSP), including a multiplier unit, adapted to perform image data (de)compression; and a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processor for routing data among the camera, the display, the DSP, and the telephone transceiver. Further, a memory is used to store (de)compression algorithm code executed by the DSP and data routing control code executed by the RISC processor
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A picture phone, comprising:
a telephone transceiver; a camera; a display; a digital signal processor (DSP), including a multiplier unit, adapted to perform at least one of image data compression and image data decompression; a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processor routing data among the camera, the display, the DSP, and the telephone transceiver; and a memory storing compression/decompression algorithm code executed by the DSP and data routing control code executed by the RISC processor.
2 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the DSP includes an arithmetic logic unit and the arithmetic logic unit includes the multiplier unit.
3 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the DSP includes a plurality of multipliers.
4 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the telephone transceiver includes an input port for receiving data and an output port for sending data.
5 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the RISC processor provides operational control and the DSP provides image data compression.
6 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the RISC processor provides operational control and the DSP provides image data decompression.
7 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the RISC processor provides operational control, and the DSP provides both image data compression and image data decompression.
8 . The picture phone of claim 1 , wherein the DSP provides image data compression and decompression.
9 . A picture phone, comprising:
telephone circuit means for transmitting and receiving information; image capturing means for capturing images; a display; digital signal processor (DSP) means, including a multiplier unit, for performing at least one of image data compression and image data decompression; reduced instruction set computing (RISC) means for routing data among the camera, the display, the DSP means, and the telephone circuit means; and a memory storing compression/decompression algorithm code executed by the DSP means and data routing control code executed by the RISC processor.
10 . For use in a picture phone having a camera, a transceiver and a display, a method for communicating information, comprising:
transmitting and receiving information through the transceiver; capturing images; using a digital signal processor (DSP), including a multiplier unit, for performing at least one of image data compression and image data decompression; using a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processor to route data among the camera, the display, the DSP, and the transceiver; and a memory storing compression/decompression algorithm code executed by the DSP and data routing control code executed by the RISC processor.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
