Abstract

A seagoing vessel, particularly a passenger vessel, comprises a hull that has at least one overhang that is located above water. This overhang causes the length of the vessel to exceed beyond a measure permitted by length limitations posed by pilotage waters. In order to preserve the useful load carrying capacity of the seagoing vessel, the portion of the overhang of the stem that constitutes the exceeding beyond the permitted measure is provided in the form of at least one structural unit that, when required, can be reversibly manipulated by a measure such as folding it away, removing it or the like.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Ocean-going vessel, particularly a passenger ship, the hull of which has at least one overhang above the waterline, which overhang allows the ship's length to exceed a dimension that is permissible on the basis of location-related length restrictions,
wherein for the purpose of maintaining the carrying capacity of the ocean-going vessel, the part of the overhang of the stem ( 3 ) that makes up the excess length is configured as at least one structural unit ( 8 ) that can be reversibly handled to be flipped away, taken away, or the like, as needed.

2 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 1 , wherein the structural unit ( 8 ) that can be handled is configured as a bow segment.

3 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 2 , wherein the bow segment is fitted into the ship's hull ( 1 ) in such a manner that the front edges ( 2 ) of the stem ( 3 ) and the structural unit ( 8 ) that is present as a bow segment, which make up the rake of the stem ( 3 ), as well as the surfaces of the structural unit ( 8 ) and the outer skin that forms the ship's side, align with one another in the normal position, in which the ship's length exceeds the length that is permissible on the basis of the location-related restrictions.

4 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 1 , wherein it has at least one transverse bulkhead ( 12 ) that closes off the ship's hull ( 1 ), in the region of the face that faces the structural unit ( 8 ) that can be handled.

       5 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 4 , wherein the transverse bulkhead ( 12 ) is integrated into the outer skin of the ship's hull ( 1 ).

6 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 1 , wherein the structural unit ( 8 ) is equipped with fittings for setting on load accommodation means of corresponding hoists.

7 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 1 , wherein working cylinders that can be activated for flipping the structural unit ( 8 ) away are provided.

8 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 1 , wherein the structural unit ( 8 ) and the ship's hull ( 1 ) are equipped with locking means that can mutually be brought into a working connection.

9 . Ocean-going vessel according to claim 8 , wherein the locking means can be optionally activated, and that a remote control is provided for activation.
