Abstract

A cart system designed for usage in attics and crawl spaces. The system utilizes a platform of previously-determined length, at least one track upon the platform, and a cushioned and wheeled seat component upon the track. In the preferred mode, the device is powered, utilizing an electric motor with chain drive assembly. When the motor is engaged via manual switch or remote control, the motor activates the chain drive assembly to move the seat along the track at a slow pace, forwardly, backwardly, or on turns. In the preferred mode of production, the system also includes sensors which function to stop the seat portion should the same move too close to an end of the platform. Alternatively, the system may be manually powered, such as through usage of pulleys or the like. The platform may be of any length suitable to adequately cover the length of an attic or crawl space. This allows the user to sit atop the device in a crouched position and move across the area with boxes or storage items when headroom is at a minimum, such as due to a low-pitched roof. The system may also include shelves to carry larger items. In addition, the system utilizes simple pre-existing components, such as a garage door opener motor and related chains, and may be modular, so that the system can be easily installed in a user's attic or crawl space.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . An attic cart device comprising:
an elongated platform, which comprises at least one track thereon, a carrier member, which comprises a carrier top surface and a carrier bottom surface, the carrier bottom surface comprising a plurality of wheels thereon, the wheels engaged by the track located upon the platform, the carrier member further comprising a cushioned portion thereon on which a user can crouch or kneel, the platform further comprising a motor housing, which comprises a motor therein, the motor functioning to engage drive linkages which are affixed to the carrier member, engagement of the motor and drive linkages functioning to move the carrier member along the platform to a previously determined position, the device further comprising at least one sensor located at each end of the platform which functions to sense locating of the carrier member and stop the carrier member form moving beyond a previously determined position along the platform, the device allowing the user to conveniently transport storage items across an attic or crawl space.

22 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein a control switch is located upon the platform.

23 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein a control switch is located upon the carrier member.

24 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the attic cart device is engaged by remote control means.

25 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the platform comprises two tracks for receiving wheels therein.

26 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the device bears indicia, text, and graphics thereon.

27 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the platform is constructed of wood.

28 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the platform is curved to fit the shape of previously determined attics and crawl spaces.

29 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the device is manufactured in a variety of sizes.

30 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the carrier member comprises at least one shelf thereon.

31 . The attic cart device as described in claim 21 , wherein the attic cart device is powered by an electric motor.
