Block carton with finish coating
Abstract
The present invention relates to a cover for a block carton, wherein a surface is coated with a coating in order to thereby control the water permeability through that surface. In accordance with the invention a cover for a block carton is provided. Wherein a surface is coated with a varnish in a water-insoluble form. This means that it will be possible to print on the packaging following application thereon of the finish, thereby enabling more rationalised and flexible production. lf both the sides of the cover are covered with finish, the options of recycling the cardboard material used for the cover will be increased.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A cover for block carton, comprising
a first surface and a second surface; a preferably rectangular bottom panel with four sides and having a front and an opposed rear side panel and two opposed end side panels, wherein each of the side panels has a length like the corresponding side of the bottom panel, wherein a side panel or end side panel is connected to a side on a lid panel, wherein the lid panel is preferably provided with one or more lid flaps along the remaining sides of the lid, and wherein the side panels preferably comprise corner segments arranged in correspondence with the corners of the bottom panel; wherein the first surface comprises a first coating being essentially impermeable to water vapour; and wherein the second surface comprises a second coating having a large number of comparatively small pinhole openings; characterised in that the first coating is selected from among the group consisting of water-based and hardenable/setting varnishes; and wherein the second coating is a paraffin coating.
2 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 1 , wherein the first and the second coating are in the form of a finish in a water-insoluble form.
3 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 1 , wherein a finish-coated side is provided with a visual indication.
4 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 1 , wherein the openings in the second coating has an average size corresponding to a diameter of less than 5 mm, preferably less than 3 mm, and most preferably less than 1 mm.
5 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 1 , wherein the openings in the second coating preferably constitute less than 20 percent of the total surface, more preferably less than 10% and most preferably less than 5 percent.
6 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 2 , wherein a finish-coated side is provided with a visual indication.
7 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 2 , wherein the openings in the second coating has an average size corresponding to a diameter of less than 5 mm, preferably less than 3 mm, and most preferably less than 1 mm.
8 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 3 , wherein the openings in the second coating has an average size corresponding to a diameter of less than 5 mm, preferably less than 3 mm, and most preferably less than 1 mm.
9 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 2 , wherein the openings in the second coating preferably constitute less than 20 percent of the total surface, more preferably less than 10% and most preferably less than 5 percent.
10 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 3 , wherein the openings in the second coating preferably constitute less than 20 percent of the total surface, more preferably less than 10% and most preferably less than 5 percent.
11 . A cover for a block carton according to claim 4 , wherein the openings in the second coating preferably constitute less than 20 percent of the total surface, more preferably less than 10% and most preferably less than 5 percent.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
