Hair extension
Abstract
The present invention provides a hair extension apparatus and kit and method of making and using such hair extension apparatus. The hair extension apparatus include an anchor band constructed of a flexible material having a frontal outer surface, a rear inner surface and mounting holes for accepting a portion of primary hairs and a plurality of supplementary hairs permanently engaged with the anchor band and extended away from the frontal outer surface so as to drape downwardly. The hair extension apparatus may optionally comprise attachment means to be used in conjunction with the portion of primary hairs to form a secured attachment between the anchor band and the user's head.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for attaching a hair extension apparatus to primary hairs comprising:
Placing a hair extension apparatus against a user's scalp wherein said hair extension apparatus is comprised of:
i. An anchor band constructed of a flexible material having a frontal outer surface, a rear inner surface and mounting holes for accepting a portion of primary hairs; and
ii. A plurality of supplementary hairs permanently engaged with said anchor band and extended away from said frontal outer surface so as to drape downwardly;
Feeding a portion of said primary hairs through said mounting holes; and Attaching said portion of primary hairs extending from at least two of said mounting holes together via attachment means forming a secured attachment between said anchor band and said user's scalp.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said attachment means is a tubular ferrule and said attaching step is accomplished by feeding said portion of primary hairs extending from said at least two of said mounting holes through said tubular ferrule and flatting said tubular ferrule upon said portion of primary hairs.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein said attachment means is said portion of primary hairs extending from said at least two of said mounting holes and said attaching step is accomplished by tying said portion of primary hairs together using a method selected from the group consisting of knotting, crocheting, braiding, sewing, and a combination thereof.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprises of taping at least a portion of said plurality of supplementary hairs located below placement of said anchor band on said user's scalp before performing said feeding a portion of primary hairs through said mounting holes step.
5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising covering said anchor band and at least a portion of said plurality of supplementary hairs with another portion of primary hairs.
6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
opening said attachment means; moving said anchor band more tightly against said user's scalp thereby drawing said portion of primary hairs extending from said at least two of said mounting holes outward; and attaching said portion of primary hairs extending from at least two of said mounting holes together via another attachment means so as to form a secured attachment between said anchor band and said user's scalp.
7 . The method of claim 6 wherein said other attachment means is same as said attachment means.
8 . A hair extension apparatus comprising:
An anchor band constructed of a flexible material having a frontal outer surface, a rear inner surface and mounting holes for accepting a portion of primary hairs; and A plurality of supplementary hairs permanently engaged with said anchor band and extended away from the frontal outer surface so as to drape downwardly, wherein said portion of primary hairs is used to form a secured attachment between said anchor band and said user's scalp.
9 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said anchor band is constructed of a material selected from a group consisting of fabric, silicone, plastic, other polymer, or a combination thereof.
10 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said anchor band is constructed of a composite material comprising:
A layer of polyurethane; A layer of fabric; and Another layer of polyurethane.
11 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said anchor band has a length in the range of about 1 inch to about 15 inches and a width in the range of about ¼ inch to about 3 inches.
12 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said anchor band further comprises at least one slit.
13 . The apparatus of claim 8 further comprises a layer of coating on said rear inner surface of said anchor band.
14 . The apparatus of claim 8 further comprising attachment means to attach said portion of primary hairs forming a secured attachment between said anchor band and said user's scalp.
15 . The apparatus of claim 14 wherein said attachment means are selected from a group consisting of tubular ferrules, clamps, V-shaped metal, wires, and a combination thereof.
16 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said mounting holes are arranged in a linear array across said anchor band.
17 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said mounting holes are arranged in at least two parallel rows across said anchor band.
18 . The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said supplementary hairs are selected from a group consisting of straight hairs, wavy hairs, curly hairs, braided hairs, and a combination thereof.
19 . A hair extension apparatus comprising:
An anchor band of a flexible material having frontal outer surface and a rear inner surface and a plurality of mounting holes; A plurality of supplementary hairs permanently engaged with said anchor band and extending out of and away from said frontal outer surface so as to drape downwardly; and A plurality of attachment means each engaged with said portion of the primary hairs extended out of said anchor band from at least two adjacent said mounting holes forming a secured attachment of said anchor band to a user's scalp.
20 . A hair extension kit comprising:
At least one hair extension apparatus comprising:
i. An anchor band constructed of a flexible material having a frontal outer surface, a rear inner surface and mounting holes for accepting a portion of primary hairs; and
ii. A plurality of supplementary hairs permanently engaged with said anchor band and extend away from said frontal outer surface so as to drape downwardly.
At least one item selected from the group consisting of pliers, combs, brushes, hook needles and holders, adhesive tapes, attachment means for hair extension apparatus, hair swatches, instructions for use, hair decorative accessories, and a combination thereof; and A container for holding said at least one hair extension apparatus and said at least one item.
21 . The kit of claim 20 wherein said instruction for use is selected from a group consisting of written document, audio tape, audio compact disc, video tape, video disc, and a combination thereof.
22 . The kit of claim 20 wherein said hair decorative accessories are selected from a group consisting of natural or artificial flowers, beads, feathers, gem stones, pearls; combs; barrettes; and a combination thereof.
23 . A hair extension tool kit for use in conjunction with hair extension apparatus comprising a plier; a comb, a hook needle and holder, instructions for use, hair swatches and at least one item selected from the group consisting of adhesive tapes, attachment means for hair extension apparatus, hair decorative accessories, and a combination thereof; and a container for holding said plier, said comb, said hook needle and holder, said instructions for use, said hair swatches and said at least one item.
24 . A method of making a hair extension apparatus comprising:
Providing an anchor band constructed of a flexible material having a frontal outer surface, a rear inner surface and mounting holes for accepting a portion of primary hairs; and Permanently engaging a plurality of supplementary hairs with said anchor band in a fashion wherein said plurality of supplementary hairs are extend away from said frontal outer surface and drape downwardly.
