Abstract
The invention comprises, on the one hand, a fastening system for assembling a series of hardwood floor member and, on the other hand, to a hole making apparatus for creating proper apertures in hardwood flooring members. The fastening system utilizes interlocking fasteners that pass laterally through each board at set intervals, whereby a floating flooring system is created regardless of the substrate forming the flooring area. The hole making apparatus forms lateral bores at regular intervals in each board so that the fastening system can be applied to conventional hardwood pieces.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A floor installation system for interlocking a plurality of flooring members, comprising:
a plurality of main fasteners, each of said main fasteners having an elongated central body portion, a male connector portion at a first end of said central body portion, and a female connector portion at a second enlarged head end, said male connector portion being adapted to mate with said female portion, and a plurality of resilient washer members sized to fit on said elongated central body portion and to abut said second enlarged head end, wherein said plurality of main fasteners are adapted to form a series of interlocked fasteners passing widthwise through a plurality of flooring members and said resilient washer members adapted to absorb expansion and contraction of said flooring members.
2 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , further comprising a length adjusting screw member having threads extending an entire length of said length adjusting screw member, said entire length of said screw member being adapted to be shortened to a desired length by removing a portion of said entire length.
3 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , further comprising a starting lock nut for mating with a first set of main fasteners disposed along a first series of starter flooring members.
4 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , further comprising a reversing fastener having two aligned female type connector sections facing in opposite but aligned directions.
5 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , further comprising a female nut member to convert the male connector portion of at least one of said main fasteners to an adapted female connector portion simulating said female connector portion.
6 . The floor installation system according to claim 2 , further comprising a depth measuring nut for measuring said desired length for said length adjusting screw member, said depth measuring nut adapted to simulate a head portion of said main fastener.
7 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one end cap nut for finishing a final series of flooring members along a finishing wall, said end cap nut having a final female connector portion at one end and a final enlarged head end at an opposite end.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
