Support system for factory built structures
Abstract
A support system for cooperating with a footing to support a factory built building against lateral and vertical loads. Lateral loads experienced by the building can include those created by seismic activities, heavy winds, heavy snow and back-filling earth around the building. The components of the system allow the building to be easily and quickly assembled. The components are also aesthetically pleasing, while creating a protective and stable support system for the factory built building. The support system includes a base having a first portion for engaging a footing member and a plurality of support members secured to the base. The support members extend from the base such that each of the support members extends within a common vertical plane when the support assemble is vertically positioned to support the building. The support assembly also includes a member operatively secured to the support members for connecting the support assembly to a portion of the building.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A support assembly for cooperating with a footing to support a factory built building, said support assembly comprising:
a base having a first portion for engaging a footing member; a plurality of support members secured to said base, said support members extending from said base such that each of said support members defining said supporting assembly extends within a common vertical plane when said support assembly is vertically positioned to support the building; and a member operatively secured to said support members for connecting to a portion of the building.
. The support assembly of claim 1 wherein said support members extend from said base at an angle relative to said base such that said support members converge toward each other along their length.
. The support assembly of claim 2 wherein said support members include a first terminal end secured to said base and a second terminal end secured to an apparatus that receives said member for connecting said support members to the building.
. The support assembly of claim 2 wherein said support members include a first terminal end secured to said base and a second terminal end secured to a vertically extending main support member.
. The support assembly of claim 4 wherein said main support member is secured to an apparatus for receiving said member for connecting said support members to said building.
. The support assembly of claim 1 wherein said support members are formed of an angle, channel or tubular shaped material.
. The support assembly of claim 1 wherein said base has a first portion for being positioned within a footing and a second portion for extending over an outer surface of the footing.
. The support assembly of claim 7 wherein said base has a substantially L-shaped cross section.
. The support assembly of claim 7 wherein said base has a substantially U-shaped cross section.
. The support assembly of claim 7 where said base has a substantially T-shaped cross section.
. The support assembly of claim 7 wherein a portion of said T-shaped base extends along said support members and is secured to at least one of said support members.
. The support assembly of claim 3 wherein said apparatus comprises a bushing and said member for connecting said support members to said building includes a threaded member received within said bushing.
. The support assembly of claim 12 wherein said turnbuckle is secured between said support members.
. The support assembly of claim 1 wherein said support assembly includes only two support members.
. The support assembly of claim 1 wherein said support assembly includes only three support members.
. A system for supporting a factory built building, said system comprising:
a support assembly comprising a support stand including a base having a first elongated portion for extending into a channel in a footing and a second elongated portion extending at an angle to the first portion and outside the channel of the footing, and a plurality of support members secured to said base, said support members converging toward each other along their length.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support members forming said support assembly extend in a common vertical plane when said support assembly is supporting the factory built building.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support members include a first terminal end secured to said base and a second terminal end secured to an apparatus that receives a member for connecting said support members to the building.
. The support system of claim 18 wherein said apparatus comprises a turnbuckle and said member for connecting said support members to said building includes a threaded member received within said turnbuckle.
. The support system of claim 19 wherein said turnbuckle is secured between said support members.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support members include a first terminal end secured to said base and a second terminal end secured to a vertically extending main support member.
. The support system of claim 21 wherein said main support member is secured to an apparatus for receiving a member for connecting said support members to said building.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support members are formed of an angle, channel or tubular shaped material.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said base has a substantially L-shaped cross section.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said base has a substantially U-shaped cross section.
. The support system of claim 16 where said base has a substantially T-shaped cross section.
. The support system of claim 26 wherein a portion of said T-shaped base extends along said support members and is secured to at least one of said support members.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support assembly includes only two support members.
. The support system of claim 16 wherein said support assembly includes only three support members.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
