Abstract

A kit containing a number of different tools that can be mounted to a lightweight extension pole or rod is provided. The kit can be integrated with hunting, camping or fishing gear, and enable sportsmen to extend their reach when performing a variety of functions. The extension pole can be a single shaft or be assembled from a number of shaft segments. With plural shaft segments, each has an upper and a lower extremity, and each has a attachment mechanism or connector for securing the individual secondary shaft segments to each other longitudinally by engaging corresponding connectors.

A multipurpose tool kit, the kit comprising: a) a tool selected from at least one of the following: a cutting or trimming device, pincer or tongs, pliers, ladle, sieve, and hook or grapnel, which is mountable to b) a substantially straight rod with a width to length ratio of at least about 1:10, formed of at least a first and a second shaft segments, each segment having a first and second end, such that said second end of said first segment is adapted to align and connect with said first end of said second segment, said first end of said first segment having a first adaptor for engaging with said tool, and said second end of said second segment having a second adaptor for engaging with a terminal insert.  
   
   
       2 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said cutting or trimming device includes a ratcheting anvil-pruning clipper, shears, saw, knife, or hand-ax blade.  
   
   
       3 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said terminal insert an end cap according to one of the following: a field-point, a spike, a rubberized stopper, a fastener, an arrow knock, or a pulley hook, or an end plate having either a smooth, a dentated or a knurled plug.  
   
   
       4 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said first and second segments are nested within each other to achieve a telescopically configured rod.  
   
   
       5 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said kit includes an LED device that is either built-in or attachable to said tool or part of said rod.  
   
   
       6 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said rod has a width to length ratio of at least about 1:50.  
   
   
       7 . The kits according to  claim 1 , wherein said kits further includes a quiver-like storage and transport case, or each of said segments of said rod has the weight and physical dimensions of an arrow shaft.  
   
   
       8 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said rod is made from either a rigid or semi-rigid material, and has either a solid, hollow, or partially hollow core construction.  
   
   
       9 . The kit according to  claim 1 , wherein said first and second segments are joined together by a connector including one of the following: a bolt, a screw, a pin, a spring or ring clamp, compression fittings or locks, crimp-fittings, hooks, or interlocking flanges and grooves.  
   
   
       10 . An extension mounted tool comprising: a) tool is adapted for either cutting or trimming vegetation and foliage, field-dressing game, retrieving an object from a distance, or collecting a liquid, attached to an end of b) a light weight, portably compact extension rod formed of either one or a number of joinable individual shaft segments, and each of said segments of said rod has the weight and physical dimensions of an arrow shaft.  
   
   
       11 . A sportsmen's equipment assembly comprising: a number of shaft segments each having a first end and a second end, said first end having a first connector, and said second end having a second connector, such that said first and second connectors are adapted to engage with each other respectively; an upper terminal segment having one end that is adapted to engage with either a reciprocal engaging mechanism on a shaft segment, and an opposing end that is adapted to mount a tool selected from the group consisting of a cutting or trimming device, pincers, tongs, pliers, ladle, sieve, hook or grapnel; and a lower terminal segment, said lower segment having one end that engages with either a reciprocal engaging means on said first segment, and an opposing end.  
   
   
       12 . The assembly according to  claim 11 , wherein said assembly further includes a cutting tool adapted to be mounted to said upper terminal end.  
   
   
       13 . The assembly according to  claim 12 , wherein said cutting tool is a ratchet-operated clipper, a saw, a knife, or an ax blade.  
   
   
       14 . The assembly according to  claim 11 , wherein said opposing end of said lower terminal segment is weighted for counterbalance.  
   
   
       15 . The assembly according  claim 11 , wherein said shaft segments have an elastic cord extending therethrough and said cord being attached to said upper terminal segment and said lower terminal segment.  
   
   
       16 . The assembly according to  claim 11 , wherein said first engaging means is a male mating mechanism with and said second engaging means is a female mating mechanism.  
   
   
       17 . The assembly according  claim 11 , comprising an extension shaft having a longitudinal axis, formed of fiberglass, epoxy resin-reinforced fibers, polymer-based or carbon fiber-based materials, or composites and laminates of such materials, which exhibit an ability to return substantially to an original configuration when a stressing force is removed.  
   
   
       18 . The assembly according to  claim 11 , wherein said individual shaft segments either all may be of the same length and width, or are in an assortment of variable lengths and widths.  
   
   
       19 . The assembly according to  claim 18 , wherein said variable width shaft segments are adapted to engage or join end-to-end with other shaft segments of narrower or wider width.  
   
   
       20 . A method of providing a multipurpose tool, the method comprises: providing a light weight extension shaft having a length greater than its width, with an upper and a lower extremity, said extension shaft formed from a substantially rigid material that can flex without breaking; attaching a tool adapted for cutting or trimming foliage or vegetation, field-dressing game, picking up an object, or collecting a liquid to said upper extremity of said extension shaft, and providing instructions on how to use said tool to a user.
