Cosmetic applicator

Abstract

Various embodiments of an applicator for applying a cosmetic product are disclosed. The applicator may include at least two applicator elements, each including at least one periodic pattern with at least one undulation, where the at least two periodic patterns may be different from one another.

1 . An applicator for applying a cosmetic product, comprising: 
 a plurality of applicator elements,    wherein the plurality of applicator elements comprises at least two applicator elements,    wherein each of the at least two applicator elements comprises at least one periodic pattern,    wherein the at least one periodic pattern comprises at least one undulation, and    wherein at least two periodic patterns of the applicator elements are different from one another.    
   
   
       2 . The applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein the applicator elements are bristles.  
   
   
       3 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein the at least two different periodic patterns comprise at least one periodic pattern of one bristle and at least one periodic pattern of another bristle distinct from said one bristle.  
   
   
       4 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein the at least two different periodic patterns are periodic patterns of the same bristle.  
   
   
       5 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having a shape that is different from a shape of at least one undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       6 . The applicator according to  claim 5 , wherein one of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises a sawtooth shape, and wherein another of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises a sinusoidal shape.  
   
   
       7 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having an amplitude that is different from an amplitude of an undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       8 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having a spatial frequency that is different from a spatial frequency of an undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       9 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein 1 percent to 99 percent of the bristles comprise the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       10 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein 20 percent to 80 percent of the bristles comprise the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       11 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein 30 percent to 60 percent of the bristles comprise the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       12 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein one of the bristles has a diameter that is different from a diameter of another of the bristles.  
   
   
       13 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises at least one rectilinear portion.  
   
   
       14 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a plurality of periodic patterns along its entire length.  
   
   
       15 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least two of the bristles comprise lengths different from one another.  
   
   
       16 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a twisted bristle.  
   
   
       17 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a circular cross-section.  
   
   
       18 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a non-circular cross-section.  
   
   
       19 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a hollow cross-section.  
   
   
       20 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a solid cross-section.  
   
   
       21 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein a diameter of the bristles ranges from 0.05 millimeter to 0.4 millimeter.  
   
   
       22 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein the bristles comprise a thermoplastic material.  
   
   
       23 . The applicator according to  claim 22 , wherein the thermoplastic material comprises a thermoplastic elastomer.  
   
   
       24 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a natural fiber.  
   
   
       25 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein the bristles comprise at least two different kinds of bristles.  
   
   
       26 . The applicator according to  claim 2 , wherein the applicator constitutes a brush.  
   
   
       27 . The applicator according to  claim 26 , wherein the brush comprises a mascara brush.  
   
   
       28 . The applicator according to  claim 26 , wherein the brush comprises a twisted core supporting the bristles.  
   
   
       29 . The applicator according to  claim 26 , wherein the bristles are secured to the brush by at least one of an adhesive, stapling, overmolding, and stamping.  
   
   
       30 . The applicator according to  claim 29 , wherein the bristles are secured to the brush in a row.  
   
   
       31 . The applicator according to  claim 26 , wherein the brush comprises a paint brush.  
   
   
       32 . The applicator according to  claim 31 , wherein the brush is configured to apply nail varnish.  
   
   
       33 . The applicator according to  claim 31 , wherein the brush comprises a stem and a housing at an end portion of the stem, and wherein the bristles are secured to the housing.  
   
   
       34 . The applicator according to  claim 33 , wherein the bristles are secured to the housing by at least one of an adhesive, stapling, and overmolding.  
   
   
       35 . The applicator according to  claim 1 , wherein the applicator elements comprise teeth.  
   
   
       36 . A device for applying a product to nails, the device comprising: 
 a receptacle containing a nail product to be applied; and    the applicator as defined in  claim 1 .    
   
   
       37 . A device for applying a product to at least one of eyelashes and eyebrows, the device comprising: 
 a receptacle containing an eyelash and/or eyebrow product to be applied; and    the applicator as defined in  claim 1 .    
   
   
       38 . The device according to  claim 37 , further comprising a wiping member configured to wipe the applicator.  
   
   
       39 . A method of applying a cosmetic product, comprising: 
 providing the applicator of  claim 1;  and    applying the cosmetic product using the applicator.    
   
   
       40 . The method of  claim 39 , wherein the product is a varnish.  
   
   
       41 . The method of  claim 39 , wherein the product is a mascara.  
   
   
       42 . An applicator for applying a cosmetic product, comprising: 
 a plurality of bristles,    wherein the plurality of bristles comprises at least two bristles,    wherein each of the at least two bristles comprises at least one periodic pattern,    wherein at least two periodic patterns of the bristles are different from one another.    
   
   
       43 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein the at least two different periodic patterns comprise at least one periodic pattern of one bristle and at least one periodic pattern of another bristle distinct from said one bristle.  
   
   
       44 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein the at least two different periodic patterns are periodic patterns of the same bristle.  
   
   
       45 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having a shape that is different from a shape of at least one undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       46 . The applicator according to  claim 45 , wherein one of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises a sawtooth shape, and wherein another of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises a sinusoidal shape.  
   
   
       47 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having an amplitude that is different from an amplitude of an undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       48 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein each of the at least two different periodic patterns comprises at least one undulation having a spatial frequency that is different from a spatial frequency of an undulation of another of the at least two different periodic patterns.  
   
   
       49 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein 1 percent to 99 percent of the bristles comprise the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       50 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein 20 percent to 80 percent of the bristles comprise the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       51 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein 30 to 60 percent of the bristles comprises the same periodic pattern.  
   
   
       52 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein one of the bristles has a diameter that is different from a diameter of another of the bristles.  
   
   
       53 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises at least one rectilinear portion.  
   
   
       54 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein at least one of the bristles comprises a plurality of periodic patterns along its entire length.  
   
   
       55 . The applicator according to  claim 42 , wherein at least two of the bristles comprise lengths different from one another.

       68 . The applicator according to  claim 66 , wherein the brush comprises a twisted core, and wherein the bristles are supported by the core.  
   
   
       69 . The applicator according to  claim 66 , wherein the bristles are secured to the brush by at least one of an adhesive, stapling, overmolding, and stamping.  
   
   
       70 . The applicator according to  claim 69 , wherein the bristles are secured to the brush in a row.  
   
   
       71 . The applicator according to  claim 66 , wherein the brush comprises a paint brush.  
   
   
       72 . The applicator according to  claim 71 , wherein the brush is configured to apply nail varnish.  
   
   
       73 . The applicator according to  claim 72 , wherein the brush comprises a stem and a housing at an end of the stem, and wherein the bristles are secured to the housing.  
   
   
       74 . The applicator according to  claim 73 , wherein the bristles are secured to the housing by at least one of an adhesive, stapling, and overmolding.  
   
   
       75 . A device for applying a product to nails, the device comprising: 
 a receptacle containing a nail product for application; and    the applicator as defined in  claim 42 .    
   
   
       76 . A device for applying a product to at least one of eyelashes and eyebrows, the device comprising: 
 a receptacle containing an eyelash and/or eyebrow product to be applied; and    the applicator as defined in  claim 42 .    
   
   
       77 . A device according to  claim 76 , further comprising a wiping member configured to wipe the applicator.  
   
   
       78 . A method of applying a cosmetic product, comprising: 
 providing the applicator of  claim 42;  and    applying the cosmetic product using the applicator.    
   
   
       79 . The method of  claim 78 , wherein the product is a varnish.  
   
   
       80 . The method of  claim 78 , wherein the product is a mascara.
