Sock laundry and storage utility device

Abstract

The present invention is constructed of nylon washable mesh to enable machine-washing and quick drying either in a dryer or on a clothesline. It conveniently takes your wash load straight from the washer to the dryer in one easy sweep with all sets of clothing and pairs of socks intact, without needing to repeat the sorting process or hunt for the missing piece(s). The mesh fabric allows clothing to “breathe”, and causes less wrinkles during travel or storage. It also decreases the moldy odor caused by damp clothes or wet weather. More than one set of clothes can be washed and/or dried at a time and they will still be completely washed and dried to satisfaction.

1 . A utility device for containing articles of clothing during laundry operations, travel, and storage, said device comprising: 
 a backing sheet of washable material;    a plurality of strips, each fixedly attached at one end to said sheet;    said strips containing attachment means to connect the free end of a strip to the free end of another strip in pairwise fashion; and,    said sheet further comprising attachment means fixedly attached to at least 2 edges of said sheet, said attachment means allowing said sheet to be folded and sealed into a baglike structure.    
   
   
       2 . The utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said sheet is comprised of nylon mesh.  
   
   
       3 . The utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said strip attachment means comprise Velcro® fasteners.  
   
   
       4 . The laundry utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said sheet edge attachment means comprise Velcro® fasteners.  
   
   
       5 . The utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said sheet edge attachment means comprise snap fasteners.  
   
   
       6 . The utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said sheet edge attachment means comprise zippers.  
   
   
       7 . The utility device of  claim 1 , wherein said sheet edge attachment means comprise buttons and matched buttonholes.  
   
   
       8 . The utility device of  claim 1 , further comprising bag hanging means fixedly attached to one end of said sheet.  
   
   
       9 . The utility device of  claim 8 , wherein said bag hanging means is a pair of vertical fastening straps for hanging to a standard closet hanger.  
   
   
       10 . The utility device of  claim 1 , further comprising pockets fixedly attached to one face of said sheet, said pockets containing openings for insertion of articles of clothing.  
   
   
       11 . The utility device of  claim 10 , wherein said pockets have closure means for retaining said articles of clothing within said pockets.  
   
   
       12 . The utility device of  claim 10 , wherein said closure means comprise a zipper.  
   
   
       13 . The utility device of  claim 10 , wherein said closure means comprise Velcro® fasteners.  
   
   
       14 . The utility device of  claim 1 , further comprising elastic bands to hold clothing.  
   
   
       15 . The use of the utility device of  claim 1  for laundering, storing, and carrying clothes.  
   
   
       16 . A utility device for containing articles of clothing during laundry operations, travel, and storage, said device comprising: 
 a sheet of nylon mesh;    a plurality of strips, each fixedly attached at one end to said sheet;    said strips containing attachment means to connect the free end of a strip to the free end of another strip;    said strips being of suitable length to removably secure a pair of socks upon said attachment of strip ends; and,    said sheet further comprising attachment means fixed upon at least 2 edges, said attachment means allowing said sheet to be folded and sealed into a baglike structure.
