Spill resistant lid
Abstract
A spill-resistant container lid that gives the user the feeling that there is no lid at all. The spill-resistant qualities are achieved by the utilization of cavities located in a liquid shield extending downwardly from the rim of a container. The device also includes a spill-proof cover, which is rotatably alignable allowing for either a closed or open position. The device may also include a spill-proof lid cap that adds increased sanitation value and temperature control. The container lid may be utilized on beverage containers, both disposable and nondisposable, in addition to pots, pans, and the like.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A container lid comprising:
a top and a bottom portion; an attachment means for releasably attaching said bottom portion of said container lid to a container; sidewalls depending from said attachment means; a liquid shield having a liquid shield top and a liquid shield bottom, wherein said liquid shield is substantially parallel to a plane formed across a container opening, wherein said liquid shield is integrally connected to said sidewalls, and said liquid shield includes an outer portion, and said liquid shield includes an inner portion; at least one dispensing cavity located substantially in said outer portion of said liquid shield; and at least one venting cavity located substantially in said outer portion of said liquid shield.
2 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said sidewalls depend from said attachment means in a downward fashion.
3 . The container lid of claim 2 , further comprising a lid cover rotatably attached to said liquid shield top, said lid cover having an outer edge, said outer edge including at least one cavity extension, wherein said cavity extension is rotatably alignable with said at least one dispensing cavity, and wherein said cavity extension is rotatably alignable with said at least one venting cavity.
4 . The container lid of claim 3 , further comprising a lid cap, said lid cap being releasably attachable to said container lid.
5 . The container lid of claim 3 , further comprising a plurality of dispensing cavities.
6 . The container lid of claim 5 , further comprising a plurality of venting cavities.
7 . The container lid of claim 6 , wherein said lid cover includes an outer edge, said outer edge having a plurality of extensions, wherein said plurality of extensions are rotatably alignable with said plurality of dispensing cavities and said plurality of cavity extensions are rotatably alignable with said plurality of venting cavities.
8 . The container lid of claim 7 , wherein said plurality of extensions are equal in number to said plurality of dispensing cavities and said plurality of venting cavities.
9 . The container lid of claim 8 , wherein said plurality of dispensing cavities are substantially equidistant from one another.
10 . The container lid of claim 9 wherein said plurality of venting cavities are substantially equidistant from one another.
11 . The container lid of claim 10 , wherein said plurality of venting cavities are substantially equidistant from said plurality of dispensing cavities.
12 . The container lid of claim 11 , wherein said plurality of venting cavities and said plurality of dispensing cavities further comprise an outer circumference that is substantially circular.
13 . The container lid of claim 12 , wherein said plurality of venting cavities and said plurality of dispensing cavities further comprise a slit extending from said outer circumference toward said inner portion of said liquid shield.
14 . The container lid of claim 13 , wherein said inner portion of said liquid shield includes a plurality of secondary dispensing cavities, said plurality of secondary dispensing cavities being individually connected to said plurality of dispensing cavities.
15 . The container lid of claim 14 , wherein said plurality of venting cavities and said plurality of dispensing cavities are sufficiently spaced so as to substantially symmetrically encircle said liquid shield.
16 . The container lid of claim 15 , wherein said lid cover includes means for rotatably fixing said lid cover in a closed position, whereby said plurality of extensions are aligned with said plurality of dispensing cavities and said plurality of extensions are aligned with said plurality of venting cavities.
17 . The container lid of claim 16 , wherein said lid cover includes means for rotatably fixing said lid cover in a open position, whereby said plurality of extensions are not aligned with said plurality of dispensing cavities and said plurality of extensions are not aligned with said plurality of venting cavities.
18 . The container lid of claim 17 , further comprising a lid cap, said lid cap being releasably attachable to said top portion of said container lid.
19 . The container lid of claim 18 , wherein said lid cover further comprises a means for rotating said lid cover.
20 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said attachment means further comprises a downward facing annular channel.
21 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said container lid is releasably attachable to a disposable beverage container.
22 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said container lid is releasably attachable to a non-disposable beverage container.
23 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said container lid is sufficiently shaped to allow for stacking of a plurality of said container lids.
24 . The container lid of claim 1 , wherein said container lid includes an outer circumference that is substantially circular.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
