Display unit

Abstract

The present invention relates to an assembly for mounting a display item ( 17 ). The assembly comprises a sheet element ( 2 ) and at least one elongate member ( 5 b ). The at least one elongate member is attached to the edge of the sheet element at first and second points. In use, the at least one elongate member retains the display item in position.

1 . An assembly for mounting a display item, the assembly comprising a sheet element and at least one elongate member, the at least one elongate member being attached to the edge of the sheet element at first and second points; wherein, in use, the at least one elongate member retains the display item in position.  
   
   
       2 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the first and second points along the edge of the sheet element are at opposed corners of the sheet element.  
   
   
       3 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the corners are diametrically opposed.  
   
   
       4 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  wherein a plurality of elongate elements are provided and at least two of said elongate elements cross each other.  
   
   
       5 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the at least one elongate member is a strap.  
   
   
       6 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 5  wherein at least one end of the strap is provided with an opening for receiving a corner of the sheet element to attach the elongate element to the edge of the sheet element.  
   
   
       7 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 5  wherein at least one end of the strap is provided with an attachment device for attaching the strap to the edge of the sheet element.  
   
   
       8 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 7  wherein said attachment device is a bracket locatable on an edge of said sheet element  
   
   
       9 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 5  wherein the at least one strap is twisted along its length.  
   
   
       10 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  further comprising a frame element extending around the circumference of the sheet element.  
   
   
       11 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein an aperture is formed in said frame element and said sheet element is located in said aperture.  
   
   
       12 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein the attachment of the sheet element to the at least one elongate member fixedly locates the sheet element relative to the frame element.  
   
   
       13 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein at least one end of the at least one elongate member is fixedly attached to the frame element.  
   
   
       14 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein at least one elongate member extends in front of the sheet element and at least one elongate element extends behind said sheet element to tray said sheet element in position.  
   
   
       15 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein at least one of said elongate members is provided with at least one mounting element, said at least one mounting element engaging an edge of said sheet element to attach it to said elongate member.  
   
   
       16 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein each mounting element has an opening therein through which an associated elongate member extends.  
   
   
       17 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 16  wherein an edge of the sheet element is located in each said opening to attach the sheet element to the elongate member.  
   
   
       18 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein said mounting element is rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the elongate member to facilitate attachment of the sheet element to the elongate member.  
   
   
       19 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein said at least one mounting element is a hoop.  
   
   
       20 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein said at least one mounting element is a hollow truncated cone.  
   
   
       21 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein said mounting element is L-shaped and engages an edge of said sheet element.  
   
   
       22 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 15  wherein at least one recess is provided in said frame element to accommodate each mounting element.  
   
   
       23 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein the frame element restrains the sheet element on at least two sides.  
   
   
       24 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 23  wherein said at least two sides are parallel.  
   
   
       25 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein the sheet element is located in substantially the same plane as the frame element.  
   
   
       26 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein the elongate member is a strut.  
   
   
       27 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 10  wherein the frame element is curved in cross-section.  
   
   
       28 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 27  wherein said curvature of the frame enables the frame to rest in an upright position on a horizontal surface.  
   
   
       29 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 27  wherein said curvature of the frame is caused by bowing at least one of said elongate members.  
   
   
       30 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  further comprising an elasticated member to retain at least one of said elongate members in position.  
   
   
       31 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  comprising a plurality of elongate members.  
   
   
       32 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the display item is situated between the sheet element and the at least one elongate member.

An assembly as claimed in  claim 10 , further comprising at least one mounting element in the form of a hoop, wherein the or each hoop is formed by folding a flap of the frame element up, down or round to engage with an edge of the sheet element and the at least one elongate member.

An assembly comprising a frame element, a sheet element and a plurality of elongate members, each elongate member being attached to the edge of the sheet element at first and second points; wherein at least one elongate member extends in front of said frame element and at least one elongate member extends behind said frame element to mount said sheet element in said frame element.  
   
   
       35 . An assembly comprising a sheet element, a frame element and at least one elongate member, the at least one elongate member being mounted on the frame element and being attached to the corners of the sheet element at first and second points.  
   
   
       36 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 35  further comprising at least one attachment device located on the at least one elongate member to attach the sheet element to the at least one elongate member.  
   
   
       37 . An assembly comprising a frame element, a sheet element and at least one elongate member, wherein said at least one elongate member extends across the front of the sheet member to retain the sheet member in position relative to said frame element.  
   
   
       38 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 37  wherein the at least one elongate member is inserted through two holes provided in the frame member and extends in front of the sheet element to retain it in position.  
   
   
       39 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 34  wherein said sheet element is a display item, for example a mirror, a clock, a lamp or a tile with a picture provided thereon.  
   
   
       40 . An assembly for mounting a display item, the assembly comprising a sheet element and a retaining member, the display item being locatable between the sheet element and the retaining member; wherein, in use, the retaining member is attached to the corners of the sheet element to retain the display item in position.  
   
   
       41 . An assembly for mounting a display item, the assembly comprising a sheet element, a frame element and at least a first and second elongate member, the first elongate member being provided in front of the sheet element and the second elongate member being provided behind the sheet element, the elongate members being attached to each other and the ends of the elongate members engaging the frame member to mount the sheet member.  
   
   
       42 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 41  wherein the ends of the elongate members are located in at least one recess provided in the frame member so as to engage said frame member.  
   
   
       43 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 41  wherein a mounting element is provided to engage at least one corner of the sheet element.  
   
   
       44 . An assembly as claimed in  claim 41  wherein the frame element is corrugated and the ends of the elongate members are each received in a recess in said corrugations.  
   
   
       45 . An assembly as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the sheet element is transparent, partially transparent or translucent.  
   
   
       46 . An assembly as claimed in any preceding claim further comprising a stand element for supporting the display frame on a horizontal surface.  
   
   
       47 . A kit of parts for making an assembly as claimed in any preceding claim.
