Method and apparatus for sport swing analysis system

Abstract

A matt includes an aperture for receiving a housing configured to support a golf ball for a golf swing analysis system.

1 . An apparatus for use with an electronic golf system that includes an electronics housing that also supports a golf ball, the apparatus comprising: 
 a matt of resilient material; and    an aperture formed within the matt, the aperture configured to receive the electronics housing.    
   
   
       2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the thickness of the matt is substantially the same as that of the electronics housing so that, when the matt is placed on a horizontal surface with the housing located within the aperture within the matt, a player may stand on the matt and address a ball located on the electronics housing with the top surface of the electronics housing being substantially at the same level as the surface upon which the player is standing.  
   
   
       3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the matt is composed of a plurality of layers including a top and bottom layer.  
   
   
       4 . The apparatus of  claim 3  wherein the top layer of the matt includes a plurality of sections.  
   
   
       5 . The apparatus of  claim 4  wherein the plurality of top sections are coupled to a bottom layer that defines length and width of the matt.  
   
   
       6 . The apparatus of  claim 5  wherein the matt is configured for folding along the section lines to allow for compact storage.  
   
   
       7 . The apparatus of  claim 5  wherein the top sections are coupled to the bottom layer by an adhesive.  
   
   
       8 . The apparatus of  claim 7  wherein voids in the adhesive are formed along and to either side of the section lines.  
   
   
       9 . The apparatus of  claim 3  wherein the top layer is composed of a material that simulates the texture of a golf tee.  
   
   
       10 . The apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the top layer is composed of an artificial grass material.  
   
   
       11 . An apparatus for use with an electronic golf system that includes an electronics housing that also supports a golf ball, the apparatus comprising: 
 a matt of resilient material; and    an aperture formed within the matt composed of a plurality of layers including a top and bottom layer with the top layer including a plurality of sections that are coupled to the bottom layer that extends the length and width of the matt, the aperture configured to receive the electronics housing, wherein the thickness of the matt is substantially the same as that of the electronics housing so that, when the matt is placed on a horizontal surface with the housing located within the aperture within the matt, a player may stand on the matt and address a ball located on the electronics housing with the top surface of the electronics housing being substantially at the same level as the surface upon which the player is standing.    
   
   
       12 . The apparatus of  claim 11  wherein the matt is configured for folding along the section lines to allow for compact storage.
