Beaded crimp lid for improved container seal

Abstract

An improved lid for sealing a container is provided. The improvement is a set of radial beads, evenly spaced on the lid surface. When the lid-sealed container is under a pressure differential relative to the environment, the beads form locations in which resulting creases are predisposed to form. The even distribution of creases contributes to the reliability of the seal between the lid and container.

1 . In a lid for sealing a container the improvement of a plurality of evenly spaced radial beads, for predisposing strain creases to form in an even pattern coincident with said beads.  
   
   
       2 . The improvement of  claim 1  wherein said beads are stamped in said lid.  
   
   
       3 . The improvement of  claim 1  wherein each of said beads comprises a radial elongate channel depression formed in said lid.
