Apparatus and method for playing a socializing game

Abstract

A socializing game played for entertainment that also serves as an ice breaking device at social events where guests are unfamiliar with one another. The contestants attempt to correctly determine the identity of a person, thing, place, or event described on an identification badge given to them at the beginning of the game. The participants of the game are given the opportunity to converse with other participants to obtain assistance in making their ultimate determination as to the identity of their person, thing, place, or event. At the end of the game, the participants announce their final determination as to the identity of the person, thing, place, or event described on their identification badge. Contestants who are accurate in their determination are declared the winners of the game. The accuracy of the participant's declaration is confirmed by the host through the use of a master list containing the names of each person, thing, place, or event described.

1 . A socializing game comprising: 
 a plurality of identification badges, said identification badges having a front side and a back side wherein said front side contains factual information and said back side contains a checking marker; and    a master list, said master list containing a list identifying that which is described on said identification badges along with corresponding checking markers identical to those contained on said identification badges.    
   
   
       2 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said identification badge is displayed on a participant through the use of an identification badge holder.  
   
   
       3 . The socializing game of  claim 2 , wherein said identification badge holder is a plastic sleeve connected to a string looped around the participant's neck.  
   
   
       4 . The socializing game of  claim 2 , wherein said identification badge holder contains an attachment device selected from the group consisting of clips, pins, and fasteners.  
   
   
       5 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular person.  
   
   
       6 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular famous person.  
   
   
       7 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular object.  
   
   
       8 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular animal.  
   
   
       9 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular event.  
   
   
       10 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said factual information describes a particular place.  
   
   
       11 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said checking marker is a number.  
   
   
       12 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said checking marker is a symbol.  
   
   
       13 . The socializing game of  claim 1 , wherein said checking marker is a color.  
   
   
       14 . A socializing game comprising: 
 a means for identifying a person, thing, place, or event;    a means for participants to display said means for identifying said person, thing, place, or event;    a means for participants to gain assistance in identifying said person, thing, place, or event through interaction with other participants;    a means for participants to formally declare the identity of said person, thing, place, or event; and    a means for checking the accuracy of the participant's declaration.    
   
   
       15 . A method for playing a socializing game employing the use of an identification badge having a front side and a back side, the front side of said identification badge displaying factual information that is particular to a specific person, thing, place, or event, the back side of each of said identification badges having a unique checking marker corresponding to an identical checking marker located on a master list, said method comprising the steps of: 
 distributing said identification badge to each participant;    allowing the participants to converse with one another whereby the participants help one another in determining the identity of the person, thing, place, or event described on their identification badge;    requiring the participants to make a final declaration of the identity of the person, thing, place, or event described on their identification badge; and    checking the accuracy of the declaration using a master list.    
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising the additional step of: 
 declaring the winners of the game to be those individuals that correctly declared the identity of the person, thing, place, or event described on their identification badge.    
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising the additional step of: 
 awarding prizes to those contestants who correctly guessed the identity of the person, thing, place, or event being described on their identification badge.    
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising the additional step of: 
 requiring the participants to make a final declaration of the identity of the persons, things, places, or events described on the identification badges of the other participants.
