Abstract
An attachment for a plow may be attached to the cutting edge of a plow. The attachment includes, a member having a surface with forward region that transitions into a lower contacting region, to thereby-allow the plow to ride over protruding obstacles without hanging up on the obstacles. The attachment may be retained to the plow by removable pins extending between the attachment and the plow, allowing convenient assembly and disassembly of the attachment to the plow.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An attachment for a plow comprising:
a member configured to be coupled to said plow between a cutting edge of said plow and a surface to be plowed, said member including an exterior surface having a contacting region positioned for contacting a surface to be plowed and a forward region extending upward from said contacting region and forward of said contacting region.
2 . The attachment according to claim 1 wherein said member is configured for removable attachment to said plow.
3 . The attachment according to claim 1 wherein said exterior surface of said member has arcuate geometry.
4 . The attachment according to claim 3 wherein said member comprises a tubular body having a longitudinal opening configured to receive at least a portion of said cutting edge.
5 . The attachments according to claim 4 further comprising a plurality of pins extending through said tubular body for removably attaching said tubular body to said plow.
6 . The attachment according to claim 4 further comprising hemispherical members disposed at opposed longitudinal ends of said tubular body.
7 . A plow comprising:
a cutting edge; and a member coupled to said plow between said cutting edge and a surface to be plowed, said member including an exterior surface having a contacting region positioned for contacting a surface to be plowed and a forward region extending upward from said contacting region and forward of said contacting region.
8 . The plow according to claim 7 wherein said member is removably affixed to said plow.
9 . The plow according to claim 7 wherein said exterior surface of said member has an arcuate geometry.
10 . The plow according to claim 9 wherein said member comprises a tubular body having a longitudinal opening, and wherein said cutting edge is at least partially received within said longitudinal opening.
11 . The plow according to claim 10 further comprising a plurality of pins extending through said tubular body for removably attaching said tubular body to said plow.
12 . The plow according to claim 10 further comprising hemispherical members disposed at opposed longitudinal ends of said tubular body.
13 . A plow comprising:
a cutting edge moveable between at least a first position and a second position; at least one actuator configured to move said cutting edge between said first position and said second position; a plow attachment including an exterior surface having a contacting region positioned for contacting a surface to be plowed and a forward region extending upward from said contacting region and forward of said contacting region, wherein said cutting edge is in a leading contact orientation when said cutting edge is in said first position, and said plow attachment is in a leading contact position when said cutting edge is in said second position.
14 . The plow system according to claim 13 wherein said plow attachment comprises an at least partially tubular member.
15 . The plow according to claim 14 further wherein said tubular member is affixed to a back side of said cutting edge.
16 . The plow according to claim 13 wherein said at least one actuator comprises a hydraulic actuator.
17 . The plow according to claim 13 wherein said cutting edge is pivotally moveable between said first position and said second position.
18 . The plow according to claim 13 wherein said exterior surface of said plow attachment has an arcuate geometry.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
