Abstract

A composition for use in raising an immune response against Porphyromonas gingivalis , the composition comprising a suitable adjuvant and/or acceptable carrier or excipient and at least one peptide of not more than 50 amino acids which peptide includes at least one P. gingivalis epitope, or multimers of said peptide, the at least one P. gingivalis epitope being selected from the epitopes included within a peptide selected from the group consisting of:

A method of reducing the prospect of P. gingivalis infection in an individual and/or severity of disease, the method comprising administering to the individual an amount of a composition as claimed in claim 1 effective to induce an immune response in the individual directed against P. Gingivalis.
