Abstract

A snowmobile seat a flexible seat section disposed over a substantially rigid base that is disposed over an upper surface of a track tunnel of a snowmobile. The rigid base is formed of a closed cell foam with cell walls and cell voids such that the base section is substantially rigid and light weight, while the flexible seat section is formed of an open cell foam. A cover covers at least the flexible seat section to resist absorption of water by the open cell foam of the flexible seat section. The cover can include an upper seat cover and a lower seat cover coupled by a zipper.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A lightweight snowmobile seat, comprising:
 a) a substantially rigid base, configured to be disposed over a track tunnel of a snowmobile, formed of a closed cell foam with cell walls and cell voids such that the base is substantially rigid and light weight; b) a flexible seat section, disposed over at least a portion of the rigid base, formed of an open cell foam and having an upper surface; c) an upper seat cover, covering at least a portion of the flexible seat section; d) a lower seat cover, extending under the rigid base; and e) at least one fastener, disposed between the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover, securing the upper seat cover to the lower seat cover.

2 . A light-weight snowmobile seat in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the at least one fastener includes a zipper formed between the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover.

3 . A light-weight snowmobile seat in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover form at least a portion of a cover that completely surrounds the rigid base and the flexible seat section.

       4 . A light-weight snowmobile seat, comprising:
 a) a substantially rigid base, configured to be disposed over an upper surface of a track tunnel of a snowmobile, formed of a closed cell foam with cell walls and cell voids such that the base is substantially rigid and light weight; b) a flexible seat section, disposed over at least a portion of the rigid base, formed of an open cell foam and having an upper surface; c) an upper seat cover, covering at least the flexible seat section, including a water resistant material configured to resist absorption of water by the open cell foam of the flexible seat section; and d) a lower seat cover, extending under the rigid base; and e) at least one fastener, disposed between the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover, securing the upper seat cover to the lower seat cover.

5 . A light-weight snowmobile seat in accordance with claim 4 , wherein the at least one fastener includes a zipper formed between the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover.

6 . A light-weight snowmobile seat in accordance with claim 4 , wherein the upper seat cover and the lower seat cover form at least a portion of a cover that entirely surrounds the rigid base and the flexible seat section.
