Process and device for reeling a paper web
Abstract
The invention relates to a process for reeling a paper web, particularly a tissue web, specifically when starting up the machine and after a web break. According to the invention, this is achieved by pressing the paper web tail ( 8 ′) or the entire width of the web onto the reel drum ( 5 ) and securing it there by means of an auxiliary roll ( 9 ) before it is transferred to the reel spool ( 3 ). The invention also relates to a device for reeling a paper web, particularly a tissue web, specifically when starting up the machine and after a web break, using a reel spool ( 3 ) and a reel drum ( 5 ). An auxiliary roll ( 9 ) is provided in addition to press a paper web tail ( 8 ′) or the entire web width onto the reel drum ( 5 ) and secure it there.
Claims

Process for reeling a paper web having a main portion of nominal web width and a front portion of any width up to said nominal width, onto a reel spool rotating at a machine speed adjacent to a rotating reel drum, comprising: feeding the front portion onto the reel drum while the reel spool is spaced from the reel drum; pressing and holding the front portion against the reel drum whereby the front portion follows the rotation of and then separates from the reel drum; while the front portion is pressed and held against the reel drum, bringing the reel spool up to machine speed; substantially simultaneously, pressing the reel spool against the web on the reel drum and severing the web front portion, thereby exposing a leading edge of the web main portion; and directing the exposed edge to the reel spool and winding the web main portion around the reel spool at machine speed.
2 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the front portion is a tail having a free end and a width that increases from less than half said nominal width at the free end to said nominal width at the main portion.
3 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the front portion is a continuation of, at the same width as, the main portion.
4 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the front portion of the web upon separation from the reel drum, is directed to a pulper.
5 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein an auxiliary roll presses and holds the front portion of the web against the reel drum.
6 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein while the main portion is winding around the spool at machine speed, the auxiliary roll is retracted from the reel drum.
7 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary roll is at a standstill.
8 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary roll is operated in creep mode.
9 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary roll is accelerated to and then maintained at a target speed.
10 . Process according to one of claim 2 , wherein the paper web tail is diverted into a pulper after the reel drum until said separation.
11 . Process according to claim 1 , including applying an adhesive to the reel spool.
12 . Process according to claim 1 , wherein the full width of the web is transferred instantly to the reel spool.
13 . Device for reeling a paper web onto a reel spool located downstream of and cooperating with a rotating reel drum, wherein the improvement comprises an auxiliary roll upstream of the reel spool for pressing and holding the web against the reel drum.
14 . Device according to claim 13 , whereby the auxiliary roll is movable between an active position against the reel drum and a retracted position spaced from the reel drum.
15 . Device according to claim 13 , wherein the reel drum has a rotation axis and four quadrants centered on said axis, and the auxiliary roll and reel spool are situated at respective adjacent quadrants.
16 . Device according to claim 13 , wherein the auxiliary roll is rotatably drivable at a selected variable speed.
