Assembly for removing debris from a windshield
Abstract
A wiper system for use with a windshield is provided and includes a wiper arm having a first and second end. The first end of the wiper arm includes a reaction surface disposed thereon while the second end includes a wiper blade biased into engagement with the windshield. In addition, a drive motor is fixedly attached to the first end of the wiper arm, whereby the drive motor includes a drive shaft operable to pivot the wiper arm across the windshield. A separator assembly is further provided and is supported by the drive shaft. The separator assembly is disposed within the arm and is operable to react against the reaction surface of the arm to selectively lift the wiper arm from engagement with the windshield.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A wiper system for use with a windshield, the wiper system comprising:
a wiper arm including a wiper blade movable between a use position and a raised position, said wiper blade in contact with the windshield in said use position and removed from said windshield in said raised position; and a separator assembly including a fluid source operable to selectively toggle said wiper blade between said use position and said raised position
2 . The wiper system of claim 1 , wherein said separator assembly includes a piston assembly operable between an extended position and a retracted position.
3 . The wiper system of claim 2 , wherein said separator assembly includes a link disposed between said piston assembly and said wiper arm, said link operable to rotate said wiper arm when said piston assembly is moved between said extend position and said retracted position.
4 . The wiper system of claim 1 , further including a position sensor operable to transmit a position of said wiper arm.
5 . The wiper system of claim 1 , further including a shock absorber operable to dampen rapid movement of said wiper arm and said wiper blade.
6 . The wiper system of claim 1 , wherein said fluid source is air.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
