Abstract
A pallet has an upper deck that is shaped to accommodate a wrap securing goods to the pallet. The pallet according to the disclosed embodiment of the present invention includes at least one projection from each corner of the pallet upper deck. The projections prevent the wrap from slipping off the adjacent edge of the pallet upper deck. For decks that include upper and lower deck sections joined together, the projections also assist in locating and orienting the deck sections relative to one another before being joined.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A pallet comprising:
a deck having an upper surface for supporting a plurality of goods, the upper surface at least substantially bounded outwardly by side edges, end edges and corner edges between the side edges and end edges; a plurality of supports extending downward from the deck; and at least one projection extending outwardly from at least one edge of the side edges, the end edges and the corner edges.
2 . The pallet of claim 1 wherein the deck includes an upper deck section having an upper panel with a plurality of openings, and wherein the deck includes a lower deck section having a lower panel from which extend the plurality of supports, each of the openings aligned with one of the plurality of supports in the lower deck section.
3 . The pallet of claim 1 wherein the corner edges are rounded.
4 . The pallet of claim 1 wherein the at least one projection extends from at least one of the corner edges.
5 . The pallet of claim 1 wherein the at least one projection includes an upper surface that is at least substantially flush with the upper surface of the deck.
6 . The pallet of claim 1 further including a plurality of goods on the upper surface and further including a wrap wrapped over the plurality of goods and at least partially around the at least one edge adjacent the at least one projection.
7 . The pallet of claim 6 wherein the pallet is a nestable pallet.
8 . A pallet comprising:
a deck having an upper surface for supporting a plurality of goods, the upper surface at least substantially bounded outwardly by side edges, end edges and corner edges between the side edges and end edges; a plurality of supports extending downward from the deck; and at least one projection extending outwardly from each of the corner edges.
9 . The pallet of claim 8 wherein the corner edges are rounded between the side edges and the end edges.
10 . The pallet of claim 9 wherein the at least one projection does not extend outwardly past the side edges or past the end edges.
11 . The pallet of claim 10 wherein an upper surface of the at least one projection is at least substantially flush with the upper surface of the deck.
12 . The pallet of claim 11 wherein an upper surface of the at least one projection is flush with the upper surface of the deck.
13 . A pallet comprising:
a deck having an upper surface for supporting a plurality of goods, the upper surface bounded by a circumferential edge; a plurality of supports extending downward from the deck; and at least one projection extending outwardly from the circumferential edge.
14 . The pallet of claim 13 wherein the at least one projection includes a plurality of projections.
15 . The pallet of claim 14 further including a plurality of goods on the upper surface and further including a wrap wrapped over the plurality of goods and at least partially around at least one of the supports between the plurality of projections.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
