Combination dry and absorbent floor mop/wipe

Abstract

The present invention provides a single cleaning sheet which allows a user to dry clean a surface with a cleaning sheet that attracts dust, dirt, debris and other particles, while providing absorbency to absorb any cleaning fluid used in a subsequent cleaning operation, in particular for stains and other dirt or debris which is not attracted to the cleaning sheet. The cleaning sheet of the present invention has first side and a second side, the first side is on an opposite side of the cleaning sheet from the second side, wherein the first side has the ability to attract and retain dirt, dust, debris and other particles and the second side has the ability to absorb fluids. Also disclosed in a method of cleaning a surface using the cleaning sheet of the present invention.

A cleaning sheet comprising a first side and a second side, wherein the first side is on an opposite side of the cleaning sheet from the second side, the first side comprises a first material which has a structure with the ability to attract and retain, dirt, dust and other debris and the second side comprises a material which has the ability to absorb fluids.  
   
   
       2 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 1 , wherein the first material comprises a nonwoven web and the second material comprises a nonwoven web.  
   
   
       3 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 2 , wherein the nonwoven web comprises monocomponent, multiconstituent and/or multicomponent fibers.  
   
   
       4 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 3 , wherein the nonwoven web of the first material comprises a nonwoven web selected from the group consisting of spunbond nonwoven webs, meltblown nonwoven webs, air-laid nonwoven webs and bonded carded nonwoven webs.  
   
   
       5 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 4 , wherein the first material comprises a spunbond nonwoven web.  
   
   
       6 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 5 , wherein the spunbond fibers comprise multicomponent fibers.  
   
   
       7 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 1 , wherein the second material comprises a nonwoven web.  
   
   
       8 . The cleaning sheet of claim  71  wherein the second material nonwoven web comprises a nonwoven web comprising a mixture of thermoplastic fibers and an absorbent material.  
   
   
       9 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 8 , wherein In the absorbent material comprises pulp and/or a superabsorbent material.  
   
   
       10 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 9 , wherein the thermoplastic fibers comprise between 5% and 80% by weight of the thermoplastic polymers and between 95% and 20% by weight of pulp and/or the superabsorbent.  
   
   
       11 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 10 , wherein the first material comprises a spunbond nonwoven web.  
   
   
       12 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 1 , further comprising a barrier layer positioned between the first layer and the second layer.  
   
   
       13 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 12 , wherein the barrier layer comprises a film.  
   
   
       14 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 1 , wherein the second surface comprises a laminate of at least two materials.  
   
   
       15 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 14 , wherein the second side comprises an absorbent layer and a liquid transfer layer.  
   
   
       16 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 15 , wherein the absorbent layer comprises between 5% and 80% by weight of the thermoplastic fibers and between 95% and 20% by weight of pulp and/or the superabsorbent and the liquid transfer layer comprises a spunbond nonwoven web.  
   
   
       17 . The cleaning sheet of  claim 1 , wherein the first side comprises a spunbond nonwoven web and the second side comprises an absorbent layer and a liquid transfer layer, the absorbent layer comprises between 5% and 80% by weight of the thermoplastic fibers and between 95% and 20% by weight of pulp and/or the superabsorbent and the liquid transfer layer comprises a spunbond nonwoven web.  
   
   
       18 . A cleaning implement comprising: 
 a. a handle;    b. a head; and    c. a removable cleaning sheet,    wherein head is connected to the handle, the removable cleaning sheet is removable attached to the head and the removable cleaning sheet comprises the cleaning sheet of  claim 1 .    
   
   
       19 . A cleaning implement comprising; 
 a. a handle;    b. a head; and    c. a removable cleaning sheet;    wherein head is connected to the handle, the removable cleaning sheet is removable attached to the head and the removable cleaning sheet comprises the cleaning sheet of  claim 17 .    
   
   
       20 . A method of cleaning a surface, comprising wiping the surface with the first side of the wipe of  claim 1 , applying a cleaning fluid to the surface, an wiping the surface with the second side of the cleaning sheet of  claim 1  to absorb the cleaning fluid applied to the surface.
