Method and system for a building database manipulator
Abstract
A Building Database Manipulator to build databases for a variety of physical environments including definitions of buildings, terrain and other site parameters, by scanning in or rapidly editing data. Raster scans may be entered or object files in various formats may be used as input. Detailed information is stored in the drawing database about the object's location, radio frequency attenuation, color, and other physical information such as electrical characteristics and intersections of the object with the ground, floors, ceilings, and other objects when objects are formatted in a drawing. The formatting process is strictly two-dimensional in nature, but the resulting drawing is a true three-dimensional environment. The user sees the three-dimensional building structure by altering the views. The resulting database may be used in a variety of modeling applications, but is especially useful for engineering, planning and management tools for in-building or microcell wireless systems.

13 . A computerized apparatus for formatting, editing, or entering data that represents radio attenuation characteristics of at least one or more of walls, floors, partitions, obstructions, and building perimeter walls within one or more buildings that are will be used with one or more wireless communications systems, comprising:
a computer or network of computers; and a computer implemented program operating on said computer or network of computers which either receives input for, uses or contains radio attenuation characteristics of said at least one or more walls, floors, partitions, obstructions, and building perimeter walls, and which provides radio performance computations for a wireless communication management application.
14 . The computerized apparatus of claim 13 wherein said radio performance computations use either two dimensional or three dimensional information about said one or more buildings.
15 . The computerized apparatus of claim 13 further comprising a display, and wherein said at least one or more of walls, floors, partitions, obstructions, and building perimeters are rendered on said display as either a two dimensional or three dimensional view.
16 . The computerized apparatus of claim 15 wherein said two dimensional or three dimensional view includes at least a portion of at least one floor plan of at least one of said one or more buildings.

The computerized apparatus of claim 13 wherein said computer implemented program can be used to modify, delete or add said radio attenuation characteristics for one or more of said walls, floors, partitions, obstructions, and building perimeter walls, and wherein said radio performance computations consider modifications, deletions or additions of said radio attenuation characteristics.

The computerized apparatus of claim 13 wherein said computer implemented program can be used to modify, delete or add data for one or more wireless communication components which are associated with or to be used in said one or more wireless communications systems, and wherein said radio performance computations consider modifications, deletions or additions of said data for said one or more wireless communications components.
