Abstract

The present invention provides dibasic acid diesters, which are suitable for use in lubricating base oils, etc. and excellent in hydrolysis resistance, etc., represented by general formula (I): (wherein R 2 and R 3 , which may be the same or different, each represent lower alkyl; and R 1 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, each represent alkyl having 7 or more carbon atoms).

1 . A dibasic acid diester represented by general formula (I):  
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       (wherein R 2  and R 3 , which may be the same or different, each represent lower alkyl; and R 1  and R 4 , which may be the same or different, each represent alkyl having 7 or more carbon atoms).  
     
     
         2 . The dibasic acid diester according to  claim 1 , wherein R 1  and R 4  each are alkyl having 7 to 40 carbon atoms.  
     
     
         3 . A lubricating base oil comprising the dibasic acid diester according to  claim 1  or  2 .  
     
     
         4 . A lubricating oil comprising the lubricating base oil according to  claim 3.
