Method and system for processing multidimensional data
Abstract
A method and system for processing multidimensional data. A method of forming multiresolution representations of data includes partitioning the data in a first dimension at a first rate, and partitioning the data in a second dimension at a second rate, wherein the first rate is not equal to the second rate. In one embodiment, the first rate is set to one, and the second rate is computed as the ratio of a smoothness estimate of the first dimension data and a smoothness estimate of the second dimension data. The partitioned data may be processed further through data compression, noise removal, or similar data processing methods.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of forming multi-resolution representations of data, the method comprising:
partitioning the data in a first dimension at a first rate; and partitioning the data in a second dimension at a second rate, wherein the first rate is not equal to the second rate.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein partitioning the data in a first dimension at a first rate comprises:
partitioning the data in the first dimension at the first rate, wherein the first rate is one.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein partitioning the data in a second dimension at a second rate, wherein the first rate is not equal to the second rate comprises:
partitioning the data in the second dimension at the second rate, wherein the second rate is less than one.
4 . A method of compressing data having a first dimension and a second dimension, the method comprising:
forming a multi-resolution representation of the data by a method comprising:
partitioning the data in the first dimension at a first rate; and
partitioning the data in the second dimension at a second rate, wherein the first rate is not equal to the second rate; and
compressing the multi-resolution representation of the data.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein compressing the multi-resolution representation of the data, comprises:
compressing the multi-resolution representation of the data using wavelet compression.
6 . A computerized system for forming multiresolution representations of data, the computerized system comprising:
a processor; a storage medium coupled to the processor; and a module capable of being stored on the storage medium and capable of executing on the processor, the module being capable of partitioning the data in a first dimension at a first rate, and partitioning the data in a second dimension at a second rate, wherein the first rate is not equal to the second rate.
7 . The computerized system of claim 6 , wherein the processor is a microprocessor.
8 . The computerized system of claim 6 , wherein the processor is a digital signal processor (DSP).
9 . The computerized system of claim 6 , wherein the storage medium is a cache memory.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
