Abstract
A stainless steel airport lighting adjustable alignment provides a light fixture support for airport runway, taxiway, or other aircraft ground traffic areas, stainless steel container means for subsequently adjusting height and azimuth by a vertical displacement, and stainless steel mounting means for mounting an airport light or light fixture. A container bottom has stainless steel mounting means for mounting an airport light or light-fixture when the bottom is installed initially and subsequently together with an adjustable top portion.
Claims

2 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising:
(c) providing stainless steel mounting means on said adjustable container top for holding an airport light or light fixture.
3 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising:
(c) wherein said light fixture support container bottom has a stainless steel top flange, a cylindrical non-threaded top portion of up to 12 inches (30 cm) or more between said top flange and said outside screw threading means, and a groove on said top flange for receiving an O-ring positioned between said top flange and said airport light or light fixture.
4 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 1 , wherein said light fixture support container bottom is composed entirely of stainless steel.
5 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising providing a non-threaded aperture in said inside thread and said outside screw threading means for receiving an Allen set screw at least ½ inch (1.3 cm) in diameter.
6 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 1 , wherein said outside screw threading means comprises an Acme screw thread of at least about 4 threads per inch (2.54 centimeters).
7 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 3 , wherein said top flange has an inside opening at an angle of about 45 degrees.
8 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 3 , wherein said top flange is stainless steel.
9 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 8 , wherein said stainless steel mounting means comprises at least one of a plurality of at least 12 bolt holes spaced substantially equally apart and positioned up to 30 degrees apart in said stainless steel top flange.
10 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment, comprising:
(a) providing a light fixture support container bottom for placement as a partially embedded support for a light or light fixture in an airport runway, taxiway, or other aircraft ground traffic area; (b) providing an adjustable light fixture support container top having outside screw threading means on its bottom end for rotatable attachment to an inside thread on said container bottom; (c) providing stainless steel mounting means for holding an airport light or light fixture on said container bottom; and (d) providing stainless steel mounting means for holding an airport light or light fixture on said adjustable container top.
11 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 10 , wherein said stainless steel mounting means on said container bottom comprises a top flange and a mud dam protection ring.
12 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 10 , wherein said stainless steel mounting means on said container top comprises a top flange and a mud dam protection ring.
13 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 10 , wherein said stainless steel mounting means on said container bottom has a top flange having an inside opening at an angle of about 45 degrees, and further wherein said stainless steel mounting means on said container top has a top flange having an inside opening at an angle of about 45 degrees.
14 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 10 , wherein said light support container bottom is composed entirely of a stainless steel.
15 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment, comprising:
(a) providing a light fixture support stainless steel canister base for placement as a partially embedded support for a light or light fixture in an airport runway, taxiway, or other aircraft ground traffic area; (b) providing a light fixture support stainless steel extension canister having means over at least 6 inches (15 cm) for connecting to said stainless steel cannister base; and (c) providing mounting means comprising a top flange and a mud dam protecting ring on said stainless steel extension canister base for holding an airport light or light fixture.
16 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 15 , wherein said mud dam protection ring comprises a 1 to 1¼ inches height (2.54 to 3.27 cm) thin band around said top flange.
17 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 15 , wherein said mud dam protection ring is positioned to protect the lighting fixture and its lenses from grout, when grout is poured.
18 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 15 , wherein said top flange has a top flange top surface and a groove on said top flange top surface for accepting an “O”-ring.
19 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 15 , wherein said light support extension canister has a top flange, a cylindrical non-threaded top portion of up to 12 inches (30 cm) or more between said top flange and said outside screw threading means, and a groove on said top flange for receiving an “O”-ring positioned between said top flange and said light fixture.
20 . A method for providing an airport light adjustable alignment as set forth in claim 19 , wherein said light support extension canister top flange has an inside opening at an angle of about 45 degrees.
