Abstract
The invention relates to the use of an antibody recognising the CDw52 antigen in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Preferably the antibody is the humanised antibody in the humanised antibody CAMPATH-1H.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for the treatment of a human subject suffering from multiple sclerosis which comprises administering to the said subject an effective amount of an antibody recognising the CDw52 antigen.
2 . A method according to claim 1 wherein the antibody is a humanised antibody including CDRs from mouse or rat antibody combined with framework regions and constant domains from one or more human antibodies.
3 . A method according to claim 2 wherein the antibody is CAMPATH-1H.
4 . A method in accordance with claim 1 , 2 or 3 , wherein the antibody is administered daily at a dose ranging from 1 to 100 mg per day for a period of 1 to 30 days.
5 . A method in accordance with claim 4 , wherein the antibody is administered daily at a dose ranging from 1 to 10 mg per day.
6 . A method in accordance with claim 1 , 2 or 3 , which further comprises the administration of a steroid.
7 . A method in accordance with claim 6 , wherein the steroid is a hydrocortisone.
