Apparatus for tying fishing line to fishing tackle and methods for use

Abstract

An apparatus used to tie fishing line to fishing tackle, and the procedures developed to be used specifically with the apparatus to form certain knots used in sport fishing. The gross structure of the apparatus is a rod with a securing device, such as an alligator clip, attached to one end. The fishing tackle may be secured to the apparatus using the securing device. Then the fishing line may be threaded through the appropriate structure of the fishing tackle, and the apparatus manipulated to produce the desired knot.

1 . An apparatus for tying fishing line to fishing tackle comprising: 
 a rod having a proximate end and a distal end; and    a securing device attached to said proximate end.    
   
   
       2 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  wherein said securing device is an alligator clip.  
   
   
       3 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  wherein: 
 said rod is hollow defining a storage space; and    a cap removably attached to said distal end.    
   
   
       4 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  wherein: 
 said rod is hollow defining a storage space;    said distal end is threaded to receive a cap;    said cap is threaded to be attached to said distal end; and    said cap is threadedly attached to said distal end.    
   
   
       5 . An apparatus as in  claim 3  or  4  wherein said cap is a hook remover.  
   
   
       6 . An apparatus as in  claim 3  or  4  wherein said cap includes a dowel.  
   
   
       7 . An apparatus as in claims  3  or  4  wherein said cap includes a lanyard aperture.  
   
   
       8 . An apparatus as in  claim 7  wherein said lanyard aperture is attached to said cap using a lanyard swivel.  
   
   
       9 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  further comprising a cutting blade embedded in said rod.  
   
   
       10 . An apparatus as in claims  3  or  4  further comprising a cutting device attached to said cap such that said cutting device is stored in said storage space while said cap is attached to said rod.  
   
   
       11 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  further comprising a light embedded in said proximate end.  
   
   
       12 . An apparatus as in  claim 1  further comprising a magnifying glass attached to said rod near said proximate end.  
   
   
       13 . An apparatus for tying fishing line to fishing tackle comprising: 
 a rod having a proximate end and a distal end;    an alligator clip attached to said proximate end;    said rod is hollow defining a storage space;    said distal end is threaded to receive a cap;    said cap is threaded to be attached to said distal end; and    said cap is threadedly attached to said distal end.    
   
   
       14 . An apparatus as in  claim 13  wherein said cap is a hook remover.  
   
   
       15 . An apparatus as in claims  13  or  14  further comprising a lanyard aperture in said cap.  
   
   
       16 . An apparatus as in  claim 14  further comprising a cutting blade embedded in said rod.  
   
   
       17 . A method for using a tackle tying apparatus comprising: 
 providing a tackle tying apparatus;    providing a fishing tackle;    providing a fishing line to be tied to said fishing tackle;    securing said fishing tackle to said tackle tying apparatus;    threading said fishing line through said fishing tackle;    twisting said tackle tying apparatus between two and fifteen times thus creating an initial loop in said fishing line;    threading said fishing line through said initial loop created in said fishing line; and    tightening said fishing line to secure the desired knot.    
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 17  further comprising: 
 threading said fishing line through a final loop created in said fishing line after threading said fishing line through said initial loop; and    tightening said fishing line to secure the desired knot.    
   
   
       19 . The method of claims  17  or  18  wherein said fishing tackle is a hook.  
   
   
       20 . The method of claims  17  or  18  wherein said twisting is performed between three and seven times.  
   
   
       21 . A method for using a tackle tying apparatus comprising: 
 providing a tackle tying apparatus;    providing a fishing tackle;    providing a fishing line to be tied to said fishing tackle;    securing said fishing tackle to said tackle tying apparatus;    threading said fishing line through said fishing tackle;    twisting said tackle tying apparatus between two and fifteen times thus creating an initial loop in said fishing line and a final loop in said fishing line;    threading said fishing line through said initial loop created in said fishing line;    threading said fishing line through said final loop created in said fishing line; and    tightening said fishing line to secure the desired knot.    
   
   
       22 . The method of  claim 21  wherein said fishing tackle is a hook.  
   
   
       23 . The method of  claim 21  wherein said twisting is performed between three and seven times.
