Method and apparatus for a game of chance
Abstract
A method and apparatus for conducting a casino-type game of chance that includes placing at least three unexposed cards from a playing card deck on at least three designated areas of a playing surface with one card on each of the at least three designated areas. A player is provided an opportunity to make at least one first wager in at least one of a first wager area and a second wager area. The first wager area identifies card content based on possible wagers for numerical value combinations corresponding to at least two cards to be revealed of the at least three unexposed cards. The second wager area identifies card content dependent upon at least one face card revealed in the at least two cards to be revealed. The at least two cards of the at least three unexposed cards is then revealed and any winning wager of the at least one first wager made by the player is then paid according to the combination of the at least two cards exposed.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of conducting a casino-type game of chance, the method comprising:
placing at least three unexposed cards from a playing card deck on at least three designated areas of a playing surface with one card on each of the at least three designated areas; providing an opportunity for a player to make at least one first wager in at least one of a first wager area and a second wager area, the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers for numerical value combinations corresponding to at least two cards to be revealed of the at least three unexposed cards and the second wager area identifying card content dependent upon at least one face card revealed in the at least two cards to be revealed; revealing the at least two cards of the at least three unexposed cards; and paying any winning wager of the at least one first wager made by the player according to the combination of the at least two cards exposed.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing comprises providing the opportunity for the player to make the at least one first wager in the second wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers for face card combinations.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising maintaining any wagers in the second wager area, dependent upon the at least one face card being revealed during the revealing of the at least two cards, until all of the at least three cards are revealed.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising revealing all remaining unexposed cards of the at least three unexposed cards and paying any winning wager of the at least one first wager in the second wager area.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing another opportunity for a player to make at least one second wager in a third wager area.
6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising revealing all remaining unexposed cards of the at least three unexposed cards and paying any winning wager of the at least one second wager made in the third wager area.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising partitioning at least one die with each face of the at least one die having at least two independent symbols which correspond to at least two of the at least three designated areas.
8 . The method of claim 7 , further comprising rolling the at least one die to expose the at least two independent symbols corresponding to the at least two of the at least three designated areas.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the revealing comprises revealing the at least two cards that correspond with the at least two independent symbols exposed on the at least one die rolled.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the revealing comprises providing a player an opportunity to choose which of the at least two cards of the at least three unexposed cards will be exposed.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the revealing comprises randomly selecting which of the at least two cards of the at least three unexposed cards will be revealed.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the placing comprises providing playing cards from at least one conventional fifty-two card deck.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the opportunity comprises providing the opportunity for the player to make the at least one first wager in the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers that the at least two cards revealed will be any pair including Ace through 10 .
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the opportunity comprises providing the opportunity for the player to make the at least one first wager in the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers that the at least two cards revealed will have a sum value based on summing card values of the at least two cards revealed including possible wagers that the sum value will be single integers between two and ten and between twelve through twenty.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising ending play of the first wager area if the sum value of the at least two cards revealed is equal to eleven.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the opportunity comprises providing the opportunity for the player to make the at least one first wager in the second wager to identify card content of a wager that the at least three unexposed cards will reveal a face card combination including at least one of king-queen-jack (same suit), king-king-king, queen-queen-queen, jack-jack-jack, king-queen-jack (different suit), king-king, queen-queen, jack-jack.
17 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the providing another opportunity comprises providing another opportunity for the player to make the at least one second wager in the third wager area identifying card content of possible wagers that any remaining unexposed cards will reveal a specific card including ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, jack, queen and king.
18 . A gaming device configured to play a casino-type game of chance, comprising:
a gaming terminal operated with a processor coupled to a display device, an input device and a wager acceptor, the processor being configured to operate with software;
the software configured to display at least three unexposed card indicia randomly taken from card values of a playing card deck to be displayed in at least three designated areas with one card indicia in each of the at least three designated areas;
the software configured to provide an opportunity for a player to make at least one first wager in at least one of a first wager area and a second wager area displayed on the display device, the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers for numerical value combinations corresponding to at least two card indicia to be revealed of the at least three unexposed card indicia and the second wager area identifying card content dependent upon at least one face card indicia revealed in the at least two card indicia to be revealed;
the software configured to reveal the at least two card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia; and
the software configured to provide payment of any winning wager of the at least one first wager made by the player according to the combination of the at least two card indicia revealed.
19 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to identify card content in the second wager area based on possible wagers for face card combinations.
20 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to maintain any wager in the second wager area, dependent upon the at least one face card being revealed of the at least two card indicia revealed.
21 . The gaming device of claim 20 , wherein the software is configured to reveal all remaining unexposed card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia and pay any winning wager of the at least on first wager in the second wager area.
22 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to provide another opportunity for a player to make at least one second wager in a third wager area.
23 . The gaming device of claim 22 , wherein the software is configured to reveal all remaining unexposed card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia and pay any winning wager of the at least one second wager in the third wager area.
24 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to provide a player an opportunity to choose which of the at least two card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia will be revealed.
25 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to reveal the at least two card indicia by random select which of the at least two card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia will be revealed.
26 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to randomly select card values for the at least three unexposed card indicia from at least one conventional fifty-two card deck.
27 . The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to display the first wager area to identify card content based on possible wagers that the at least two card indicia revealed will be any pair including Ace through 10 .

The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to display the first wager area to identify card content based on possible wagers that the at least two card indicia revealed will have a sum value based on summing card values of the at least two card indicia revealed including possible wagers that the sum value will be single integers between two through ten and between twelve through twenty.
29 . The gaming device of claim 28 , wherein the software is configured to end play of the first wager area if the sum value of the at least two card indicia revealed is equal to eleven.

The gaming device of claim 18 , wherein the software is configured to display the second wager area to identify card content of possible wagers that the at least three unexposed card indicia will reveal at least one of king-queen-jack (same suit), king-king-king, queen-queen-queen, jack-jack-jack, king-queen-jack (different suit), king-king, queen-queen, jack-jack.

The gaming device of claim 22 , wherein the software is configured to display the third wager area to identify card content of possible wagers that any remaining unexposed card indica will reveal a specific card including an ace, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, jack, queen and king.
32 . A computer system configured to play a game of chance, comprising:
a computer operated with a processor coupled to a display device and an input device, the processor being configured to operate with software;
the software configured to display at least three unexposed card indicia randomly taken from card values of a playing card deck to be displayed in at least three designated areas with one card indicia in each of the at least three designated areas;
the software configured to provide an opportunity for a player to make at least one first wager in at least one of a first wager area and a second wager area displayed on the display device, the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers for numerical value combinations corresponding to at least two card indicia to be revealed of the at least three unexposed card indicia and the second wager area identifying card content dependent upon at least one face card indicia revealed in the at least two card indicia to be revealed;
the software configured to reveal the at least two card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia; and
the software configured to provide payment of any winning wager of the at least one first wager made by the player according to the combination of the at least two card indicia revealed.
33 . An article of manufacture, comprising:
a computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein for playing a game of chance, the computer readable program code in the article of manufacture comprising:
computer readable program code for displaying at least three unexposed card indicia randomly taken from card values of a playing card deck to be displayed in at least three designated areas with one card indicia in each of the at least three designated areas;
computer readable program code for providing an opportunity for a player to make at least one first wager in at least one of a first wager area and a second wager area to be displayed, the first wager area identifying card content based on possible wagers for numerical value combinations corresponding to at least two card indicia to be revealed of the at least three unexposed card indicia and the second wager area identifying card content dependent upon at least one face card indicia revealed in the at least two card indicia to be revealed;
computer readable program code for revealing the at least two card indicia of the at least three unexposed card indicia; and
