Abstract

A dental implant is provided comprising an anchoring part ( 12 ) for anchoring within the bone and comprising a mounting part ( 18 ) for receiving a prosthetic build-up construction, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ) and the mounting part ( 18 ) are configured integrally of a material based on zirconia, wherein at least the anchoring part is pre-treated at its outer surface at least partially by a subtractive, removing process, or is provided with a coating which facilitates an ossification (FIG. 1 ).

A dental implant comprising an anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) for anchoring within the bone, and comprising a mounting part ( 18 ,  38 ,  58 ) for receiving an element to be applied, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) and the mounting part ( 18 ,  38 ,  58 ) are integrally made of a material based on zirconia, and wherein at least the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is pretreated at its outer surface by a subtractive removing process, or is provided with a coating whereby an ossification is facilitated.  
     
     
         2 . The dental implant of  claim 1 , wherein the anchoring part ( 18 ,  38 ,  58 ) comprises a threaded section ( 14 ,  34 ,  54 ).  
     
     
         3 . The dental implant of any of the preceding claims, wherein the anchoring part ( 18 ,  38 ,  58 ) is roughened by a removing process or is micro-structured, at least partially, at its outer surface.  
     
     
         4 . The dental implant of  claim 3 , wherein the maximum surface roughness within the region of the anchoring part is between 1 and 20 micrometers, preferably between 2 and 15 micrometers, in particular between 4 and 12 micrometers, particularly preferred between 6 and 12 micrometers.  
     
     
         5 . The dental implant of  claim 3 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been treated at its outer surface by abrasive blasting, in particular by sand blasting.  
     
     
         6 . The dental implant of any of the preceding claims, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been treated by etching.  
     
     
         7 . The dental implant of  claim 6 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has initially been treated by abrasive blasting and thereafter by etching.  
     
     
         8 . The dental implant of any of  claims 5  to  7 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been abrasive blasted with a pressure between 1 bar and 10 bars, preferably between 2 bars and 6 bars, particularly preferred between 3 bars and 5 bars.  
     
     
         9 . The dental implant of  claim 6 ,  7  or  8 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been etched by means of phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid or mixtures thereof.  
     
     
         10 . The dental implant of  claim 9 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been etched by means of phosphoric acid of 10 to 50 vol.-%, preferably of 15 to 50 vol.-%, in particular of 20 to 40 vol.-%.  
     
     
         11 . The dental implant of any of  claims 6  to  10 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been etched for a time of 10 seconds to 10 minutes, preferably for 10 to 120 seconds, in particular for 15 to 60 seconds.  
     
     
         12 . The dental implant of any of  claims 6  to  11 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been cleaned after etching, preferably in NaCl solution and has been rinsed thereafter in water.  
     
     
         13 . The dental implant of any of the preceding claims, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) at least on part of its outer surface is provided with a bioactive coating.  
     
     
         14 . The dental implant of any of the preceding claims, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) has been silanated or hydroxylated.  
     
     
         15 . The dental implant of any of the preceding claims, wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is at least partially coated with a metallic or ceramic coating or with a cermet coating.  
     
     
         16 . The dental implant of  claim 15 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is at least partially provided with a coating applied by thermal spraying, by CVD or by PVD.  
     
     
         17 . The dental implant of  claim 15 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is at least partially provided with a thermally sprayed coating of titanium or of a titanium alloy.  
     
     
         18 . The dental implant of  claim 15 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is at least partially provided with a thermally sprayed coating of zirconia, alumina, silica or mixtures thereof.  
     
     
         19 . A kit comprising a container that can be sealingly closed, comprising a liquid, preferably water, within which a dental implant according to any of the preceding claims is received.  
     
     
         20 . A process for making a dental implant, wherein initially there is provided a base body comprising an anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) for anchoring within the bone and further comprising a mounting part ( 18 ,  38 ,  58 ) for receiving an element to be fixed, both made integrally of a material on zirconia basis, and thereafter at least the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is pre-treated at its outer surface at least partially by a subtractive, removing process or is provided with a coating, whereby an ossification is facilitated.  
     
     
         21 . The process of  claim 20 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is abrasive blasted, preferably sand blasted at its outer surface.  
     
     
         22 . The process of  claim 20  or  21 , wherein the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is etched at its outer surface, preferably by means of phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid or mixtures thereof, in particular is initially sandblasted and thereafter etched with phosphoric acid.  
     
     
         23 . The process of any of  claims 20  to  22 , wherein the outer surface of the anchoring part ( 12 ,  32 ,  52 ) is provided by thermal spraying with a coating of titanium or of a titanium alloy.
