Abstract

The flag caddy of the present invention is useful for safely storing multiple flags and a flag pole and includes a rectangular housing with a door that allows a user to hang multiple flags on horizontal flag rods rotatably positioned within the housing. The flag rods rotate horizontally to allow the safe placement of a flag while several other flags are hanging on similar flag rods. A flag pole storage sleeve is also included and allows the safe storage of a detached flag pole. A hanger or hook attached to the top portion of the housing allows the flag caddy to be stored in a closet or in the garage to protect multiple flags from damage, destruction, dirt and wrinkles.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A flag caddy comprising:
a housing; means to open and close said housing; a series of horizontal flag rods; at least one joint mechanism attached to the inner vertical wall of said housing and also connected to first end of said flag rods and allow said flag rods to rotate on a substantially horizontal axis; means for containing flags from sliding and located at second end of said flag rods; and means for hanging said housing; wherein said means to open and close said housing opens to expose flag rods and said joint mechanism, said flag rods rotate to allow flags to be placed onto said flag rods, said flag rods then rotate back to their original position where said means to open and close said housing is closed and the flags are protected.

2 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said housing is substantially rectangular where the height is largest length, followed by the width and then depth.

3 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said housing is substantially square with the height and width being the same length, followed by smaller depth.

4 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means to open and close said housing is a single door that rotates at one side of said housing.

5 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means to open and close said housing is two doors that each rotate at opposite sides of said housing and seal the inside of said housing when closed.

6 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means to open and close said housing includes a zipper attached to the perimeter that integrates with a complimentary zipper on the perimeter of said housing.

7 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means to open and close said housing includes complimentary magnets attached to said means to open and close said housing and said housing.

8 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said flag rods have a round cross-section.

9 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said flag rods have a rectangular cross-section, decrease in height as the distance away from said joint mechanism increases and are formed with gaps to decrease weight.

10 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein first said joint mechanism is attached to the left inner vertical wall of said housing and second said joint mechanism is attached to the right inner vertical wall of said housing wherein said flag rods of first said joint mechanism extend in the gap between said flag rods of second said joint mechanism.

11 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said joint mechanism further comprising:
at least two housing connectors that are attached to the inner wall of said housing; a support shaft that is held in place at both ends by said housing connectors; and at least two rod joints connected to said first end of said flag rod and surround said support shaft; wherein said rod joints rotate horizontally around an axis created by said support shaft enabling said flag rods to rotate and allow a flag to be hung on said flag rods.

12 . The flag caddy in claim 10 , wherein said joint mechanism further comprising at least one spacer placed between said rod joints and maintain a gap between said flag rods.

13 . The flag caddy in claim 10 , wherein said rod joints are substantially taller than said flag rods to maintain a gap between said flag rods and to increase the leverage of said flag rods.

14 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said joint mechanism further comprising a spring to return and maintain said flag rods in a designated position within said housing.

15 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means for hanging said housing is a hanger attached to the top side of said housing.

16 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means for containing flags from sliding are tabs on the top of said second end of said flag rods.

17 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said means for containing flags from sliding are ball ends.

18 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said housing further comprising a flag pole storage sleeve on the back of said housing wherein a detached flag pole may be inserted and stored.

19 . The flag caddy in claim 1 , wherein said housing further comprising a flag pole storage sleeve on the side of said housing wherein a detached flag pole may be inserted and stored.

20 . A method for protecting multiple flags comprising the steps of:
forming a housing with six sides; providing one of the sides away except for one edge that will maintain contact with and will rotate to expose the inside of the housing; attach a joint mechanism to the internal vertical wall of the housing; and connect one or more flag rods to the joint mechanism.
