Abstract

In a gambling game, there is a collateral gambling game, which can be won by players on, at least, one specific event occurring in the principal game; the collateral game being separate from the principal game, but won when any of the possible winning events occur in the principal game, with the payment to the player being calculated from the total value available for the game divided by the total number of players who bet on the specific winning event. The game gives a possibility for a large number of players to share in the success of a single player who has successfully won the main game. It may be used with various types of games, including those using electronic gaming machines.

1 - 15 . (canceled)

16 . A gaming machine for conducting a wagering game, comprising:
a first display of a first type for displaying a primary game outcome; a second display of a second type for displaying a secondary game outcome, the second type being different from the first type; and a control system for operating the first and second displays, the control system awarding a first award if the primary outcome is a winning outcome, the control system awarding a second award if the secondary outcome has a predetermined association with the winning outcome.

17 . The machine according to claim 16 , wherein the winning outcome is represented by first indicia and wherein the secondary outcome is represented by second indicia, the control system awarding the second award if the second indicia substantially matches the first indicia.

18 . The machine according to claim 16 , wherein the primary outcome is represented by a plurality of symbols and wherein the secondary outcome is represented by an additional symbol.

19 . The machine according to claim 18 , wherein the predetermined association includes a substantial match between the additional symbol and at least one of the symbols of the winning outcome.

20 . The machine according to claim 19 , wherein the plurality of symbols of the winning outcome substantially match each other.

21 . The machine according to claim 18 , wherein the second display includes a game board having a plurality of regions, the regions containing respective second symbols, the second display being operated to randomly select the additional symbol from the second symbols.

22 . The machine according to claim 16 , wherein the primary and secondary outcomes are randomly selected from a plurality of possible outcomes.

23 . A method of conducting a wagering game, comprising:
displaying a primary game outcome on a first display of a first type; displaying a secondary game outcome on a second display of a second type, the second type being different from the first type; awarding a first award if the primary outcome is a winning outcome; and awarding a second award if the secondary outcome has a predetermined association with the winning outcome.

24 . The method according to claim 23 , wherein the winning outcome is represented by first indicia and wherein the secondary outcome is represented by second indicia, and wherein the step of awarding a second award includes awarding the second award if the second indicia substantially matches the first indicia.

25 . The method according to claim 23 , wherein the primary outcome is represented by a plurality of symbols and wherein the secondary outcome is represented by an additional symbol.

26 . The method according to claim 25 , wherein the predetermined association includes a substantial match between the additional symbol and at least one of the symbols of the winning outcome.

27 . The method according to claim 26 , wherein the plurality of symbols of the winning outcome substantially match each other.

28 . The method according to claim 25 , wherein the second display includes a game board having a plurality of regions, the regions containing respective second symbols, and further including randomly selecting the additional symbol from the second symbols.

29 . The method according to claim 23 , further including randomly selecting the primary and secondary outcomes from a plurality of possible outcomes.
