Image processing system having an image signal generating device coupleable to an adapter

Abstract

A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable includes a connection unit, a digital memory unit, an external input unit, and a recording control unit. The connection unit connects the apparatus with the camera. The digital memory stores digital image data. The recording control unit selectively records an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input from the external input unit on the digital memory unit.

       29 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, comprising: 
 a connection unit adapted to connect with the camera;    a digital memory unit adapted to store digital image data;    an external input unit; and    a recording control unit adapted to selectively record an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input from said external input unit on said digital memory unit.

A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 29 , further comprising a selection unit adapted to be able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       31 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 30 , wherein said selection unit is located on the side of said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       32 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 29 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       33 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 29 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       34 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, comprising: 
 a connection unit adapted to connect with the camera;    a digital memory unit adapted to store digital image data;    an external input unit;    an external output unit; and    a recording control unit adapted to selectively record an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input from said external input unit on said digital memory unit,    wherein the image signal is output to said external output unit.

A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 34 , further comprising a selection unit adapted to be able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       36 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 35 , wherein said selection unit is located on the side of said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       37 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 34 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       38 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 34 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       39 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, comprising: 
 a connection unit adapted to connect with the camera;    a digital memory unit adapted to store digital image data;    an external input unit;    an external output unit;    an input/output interface unit adapted to interface with a digital line; and    a recording control unit adapted to selectively record an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input from said external input unit on said digital memory unit,    wherein output of the image signal to said external output unit and transmission of the digital image data to the digital line are selectively executed.

A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 39 , further comprising a selection unit adapted to be able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       41 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 40 , wherein said selection unit is located on the side of said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       42 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 39 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       43 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 39 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from said digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       44 . A digital image recording/reproducing apparatus according to  claim 39 , wherein the transmission of the digital image data to the digital line is manually started.  
   
   
       45 . A control method for a digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, said method comprising: 
 a connection step of connecting with the camera;    a digital memory step of storing digital image data on a digital memory;    an external input step; and    a recording control step of selectively recording an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input in said external input step on the digital memory.

A control method according to  claim 45 , further comprising a selection step of being able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       47 . A control method according to  claim 46 , wherein said selection step is executed on the side of the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       48 . A control method according to  claim 45 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       49 . A control method according to  claim 45 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       50 . A control method for a digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, said method comprising: 
 a connection step of connecting with the camera;    a digital memory step of storing digital image data on a digital memory;    an external input step;    an external output step; and    a recording control step of selectively recording an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input in said external input step on the digital memory,    wherein the image signal is output to an external output unit in said external output step.

A control method according to  claim 50 , further comprising a selection step of being able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       52 . A control method according to  claim 51 , wherein said selection step is executed on the side of the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       53 . A control method according to  claim 50 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       54 . A control method according to  claim 50 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       55 . A control method for a digital image recording/reproducing apparatus to which a camera is connectable, said method comprising: 
 a connection step of connecting with the camera;    a digital memory step of storing digital image data on a digital memory;    an external input step;    an external output step;    an input/output interface step of interfacing with a digital line; and    a recording control step of selectively recording an image signal input from the connected camera and an image signal input in said external input step on the digital memory,    wherein output of the image signal to an external output unit in said external output step and transmission of the digital image data to the digital line are selectively executed.

A control method according to  claim 55 , further comprising a selection step of being able to select, as the image signal input from the connected camera, the image signal from an image pickup unit of the camera or the image signal recorded on a recording medium of the camera.  
   
   
       57 . A control method according to  claim 56 , wherein said selection step is executed on the side of the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       58 . A control method according to  claim 55 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, a power supply of the camera is automatically charged.  
   
   
       59 . A control method according to  claim 55 , wherein, in a case where the camera is connected, the connected camera can be controlled from the digital image recording/reproducing apparatus.  
   
   
       60 . A control method according to  claim 55 , wherein the transmission of the digital image data to the digital line is manually started.
