Hanger device and hook member for a wall-supported member

Abstract

A hanger device and hook members for a wall-supported member including a level indicator. The hook members are located at the ends of the hanger device and include an upwardly and forwardly extending hanger portion to hold a wire or frame, and an opening for a fastener. Additional hook members may be removably affixed to the hanger device, and used separately.

1 . A hanger device comprising: 
 a horizontal arm having two ends;    a level indicating means; and    a hook member disposed at each end of the horizontal arm, said hook member including an opening and an upwardly and forwardly extending hanger portion.    
   
   
       2 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said hanger portion is disposed above said opening.  
   
   
       3 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein a shoulder is provided to the rear of said hanger portion.  
   
   
       4 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said opening is shaped and configured to direct a fastener inward and slightly downwardly into a vertically extending wall surface.  
   
   
       5 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said opening is shaped and configured to provide a tight fitting collar around a fastener driven through the opening, thereby holding the fastener in place within the opening.  
   
   
       6 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said level indicating means is a pendulum.  
   
   
       7 . The hanger device of  claim 6  further comprising a lower arm with markings for use with the pendulum to indicate the angle of the device.  
   
   
       8 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said hook member includes a first opening and a second opening, the second opening being disposed below the first opening.  
   
   
       9 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein one or more additional hook members are removably affixed to the hanger device.  
   
   
       10 . The hanger device of  claim 9  wherein said additional hook members are removably affixed to the hook members disposed at each end of the horizontal arm, and each additional hook member includes a first opening and a second opening, the second opening being disposed horizontally below the first opening.  
   
   
       11 . The hanger device of  claim 8  wherein said hanger portion is disposed above said first opening.  
   
   
       12 . The hanger device of  claim 1  wherein said opening is sized and configured to provide a tight fitting collar around a fastener driven through said opening, and to direct the fastener perpendicularly into a wall to which the device is to be affixed.  
   
   
       13 . A hook member comprising an upwardly and forwardly extending hanger portion disposed above an opening.  
   
   
       14 . The hook member of  claim 13  including a first opening and a second opening, said hanger portion being disposed above said first opening, and said second opening being disposed vertically below said first opening.  
   
   
       15 . The hook member of  claim 13  wherein a shoulder is provided to the rear of said hanger portion.  
   
   
       16 . The hook member of  claim 13  wherein said opening is shaped and configured to direct a fastener inward and slightly downwardly into a vertically extending wall surface.  
   
   
       17 . The hook member of  claim 13  wherein said opening is shaped and configured to provide a tight fitting collar around a fastener driven through the opening, thereby holding the fastener in place within the opening.
