Abstract

An elongated edge protector is for protecting an edge or corner of an article. The edge protector includes a plurality of paperboard plies laminated together and formed into a rigid substantially right angled member. The right angled member has a pair of transversely oriented legs joined at an apex, each of the apex and the legs having inside and outside faces. A layer of plastic laminate is adhered to the outside faces of the legs, and preferably overwraps the edges of the right angled member, such that the laminate is adhered to both inside and outside faces of the legs. In a preferred embodiment, a paper label is laminated to the outside faces of the legs, wherein the layer of plastic laminate is adhered to the paper label.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An elongated edge protector for protecting an edge or corner of an article, said edge protector comprising:
a plurality of paperboard plies laminated together and formed into a rigid, substantially right-angled member, said right-angled member having a pair of transversely oriented legs joined at an apex, each of said apex and said legs having inside and outside faces; and a layer of plastic laminate adhered to at least the outside faces of said legs.

2 . The elongated edge protector of claim 1 , wherein said layer of plastic laminate is further adhered to said outside face of said apex.

3 . The elongated edge protector of claim 1 , wherein said plastic laminate overwraps elongated edges of said right-angled member and wherein said plastic laminate is adhered to both inside and outside faces of said legs.

4 . The elongated edge protector of claim 3 , wherein said plastic laminate includes first and second elongated edge portions, and wherein said first edge portion overlies said second edge portion.

5 . The elongated edge protector of claim 4 , wherein said first edge portion overlies said second edge portion at said inside face of said apex.

6 . The elongated edge protector of claim 4 , wherein said first edge portion is adhered to said second edge portion.

7 . The elongated edge protector of claim 1 , wherein said second edge portion is laminated to said inside face of said apex.

8 . The elongated edge protector of claim 1 further comprising a paper label laminated to the outside faces of the legs, wherein the layer of plastic laminate is adhered to the paper label.

9 . The elongated edge protector of claim 8 , wherein said paper label overwraps said elongated edges of said right angled member and is laminated to both said inside and outside faces of said legs.

10 . An elongated edge protector for protecting an edge or corner of an article, said edge protector comprising:
a plurality of paperboard plies laminated together and formed into a rigid, substantially right angled member, said right angled member having a pair of transversely oriented legs joined at an apex, each of said apex and said legs having inside and outside faces; a paper label laminated to said outside faces of said legs; and a layer of plastic laminate adhered to at least the outer faces of said legs.

11 . The elongated edge protector of claim 10 , wherein said paper label is further adhered to said outside face of said apex.

12 . The elongated edge protector of claim 10 , wherein said paper label and said plastic laminate overwrap elongated edges of said right angled member and wherein said paper label is adhered to both inside and outside faces of said legs.

13 . The elongated edge protector of claim 12 , wherein said paper label and plastic laminate together form first and second elongated edge portions; and wherein said first edge portion overlies said second edge portion.

14 . The elongated edge protector of claim 13 , wherein said first edge portion overlies said second edge portion at said inside face of said apex.

15 . The elongated edge protector of claim 13 , wherein said first edge portion is adhered to said second edge portion.

16 . The elongated edge protector of claim 10 , wherein said second edge portion is laminated to said inside face of said apex.
