Artificial nail

Abstract

An artificial fingernail comprises a body having a top and a bottom, a front edge and an opposing rear edge, a first side and an opposing second side, and a base portion extending from the rear edge to a tip portion which extends to the front edge. The base portion is configured to cover at least a portion of a natural nail and the tip portion is configured to extend beyond a tip portion of the natural nail. The artificial fingernail includes decoration associated with the body which is visible when viewing the bottom of the body and, in one embodiment, which is not visible when viewing the top of the body.

1 . An artificial nail comprising: 
 a body having a top and a bottom, a front edge and an opposing rear edge, a first side and an opposing second side, a base portion extending from said rear edge to a tip portion which extends to said front edge, said base portion configured to cover at least a portion of a natural nail and said tip portion configured to extend beyond a tip portion of the natural nail, and decoration associated with said body which is visible when viewing said bottom of said body.    
   
   
       2 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said decoration comprises painted artwork.  
   
   
       3 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said decoration is not visible when viewing said top of said body.  
   
   
       4 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 3  wherein said base portion is substantially transparent and said tip portion is substantially opaque.  
   
   
       5 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 4  wherein said decoration is associated with said bottom of said body at said tip portion.  
   
   
       6 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said decoration is associated with said bottom of said body at said tip portion.  
   
   
       7 . The artificial nail in accordance with  claim 1  including a coating applied to said bottom of said body, said decoration applied over said coating, said coating preventing said decoration from being visible from said top of said body.
