Direct hair dyes and use thereof

Abstract

A coloring or tinting composition containing as a substantive dye at least one hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of formula (I) is provided. Preferred hydroxyanthraquinone derivatives include 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(3′-methylphenoxy)-anthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(2′-methyl-3′-hydroxyphenoxy)-anthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(4′-methylphenoxy)-anthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(3′,5′,-dimethoxyphenoxy)-anthraquinone, or 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(2′,3′-dimethoxyphenoxy)-anthraquinone.

         24 . The hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of  claim 23  wherein R is a 2-methyl-3-hydroxyphenyl group.  
     
     
         25 . The hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of  claim 23  wherein R is a 3-methylphenyl group, or a 4-methylphenyl group.  
     
     
         26 . A hydroxyanthraquinone derivative corresponding to formula (I)  
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein X is a chlorine atom and R is a 3,5-dimethoxyphenyl group, a 2,3-dimethoxyphenyl group, or 3,4-methylenedioxybenzene.  
     
     
         27 . The hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of  claim 26  wherein R is a 3,5-dimethoxyphenyl group or a 2,3-dimethoxyphenyl group.  
     
     
         28 . The hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of  claim 26  wherein R is 3,4-methylenedioxybenzene.
