Nail buffer and polisher having pliable body

Abstract

A nail buffer and polisher having pliable body includes an elongated foam core body having a triangular cross-section. Each side of the foam core body is equipped with an abrasive or polishing material that, when presented to a fingernail or toe nail, provides either a filing or buffing treatment to the nail. The elongated body is sized such that the device may be grasped from its ends. The sides of the foam core body may each have a foam later coated with either an abrasive or buffing material. The foam core body is made from a pliable foam material that allows the technician to bend the device around a nail being filed or buffed. This provides for a smoother and more time efficient result in the filing and buffing of the nails by the technician.

1 . A nail buffing device, comprising: 
 a foam body having three sides;    at least one abrasive layer on one of said three sides;    at least one buffing layer on one of said three sides;    and wherein said foam body is pliable to bend around a nail being filed or polished.    
   
   
       2 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1 , wherein said foam body has a length between 2.5 inches to 4.5 inches.  
   
   
       3 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1  wherein said foam body has a length between 3.0 inches to 4.0 inches.  
   
   
       4 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1  wherein said foam body has a length between 3.2 inches and 3.8 inches.  
   
   
       5 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a foam intermediate layer between one side of said foam body and one abrasive layer.    
   
   
       6 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a foam intermediate layer between one side of said foam body and one polishing layer.    
   
   
       7 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1 , wherein each said side of said foam body has a width.  
   
   
       8 . The nail buffing device of  claim 7 , wherein said width ranges between 0.75 inches and 2.0 inches.  
   
   
       9 . The nail buffing device of  claim 1 , wherein said buffing device has a triangular cross-section, and further comprises a length and a width of each side of said device, and wherein said length is approximately equal to the circumference of the device.  
   
   
       10 . A nail buffing device, comprising: 
 a foam body having three sides;    an intermediate foam layer on each of said three sides;    at least one abrasive layer on said intermediate foam layer on one of said three sides;    at least one buffing layer said intermediate foam layer on one of said three sides;    and wherein said foam body is pliable to bend around a nail being filed or polished.    
   
   
       11 . The nail buffing device of  claim 10 , further comprising an internal support member positioned longitudinally within said foam body to stiffen said foam body.  
   
   
       12 . The nail buffing device of  claim 10 , wherein said foam body has a length between 2.5 inches to 4.5 inches.  
   
   
       13 . The nail buffing device of  claim 10  wherein said foam body has a length between 3.0 inches to 4.0 inches.  
   
   
       14 . The nail buffing device of  claim 10  wherein said foam body has a length between 3.2 inches and 3.8 inches.  
   
   
       15 . The nail buffing device of  claim 10 , wherein each said side of said foam body has a width.  
   
   
       16 . The nail buffing device of  claim 15 , wherein said width is between 0.75 inches and 2.0 inches.  
   
   
       17 . The nail buffing device of  claim 15 , wherein said width is between 1.0 inches and 1.25 inches.  
   
   
       18 . A method of manufacturing a nail buffing device, comprising the steps of: 
 providing an elongated foam body having a triangular cross-section having three sides; and    applying an abrasive treatment surface to at least one of said three sides.    
   
   
       19 . The method of manufacturing a nail buffing device of  claim 18 , further comprising the steps of: 
 applying a polishing treatment surface to at least one of said three sides.    
   
   
       20 . The method of manufacturing a nail buffing device of  claim 19 , further comprising the steps of: 
 providing an intermediate foam layer between said foam body and said treatment surface.
