Abstract

The invention relates to a barbell weight plate that has first and second bodies hinged together to permit the bodies to be separated or closed. A latch member is carried by one of the bodies and a latch pin by the other to allow the bodies to be latched or locked together. At the center of the bodies when latched together, there is a circular opening extending through both bodies that has a radius of sufficient dimension such that when the bodies are separated, the barbell weight plate may be clamped to compressively engage the curl bar.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A barbell weight plate for weightlifting curl bars comprising:
 (a) two bodies hingedly connected to close together or separate; and, (b) latch means associated with said two bodies for latching and unlatching said two bodies to permit said two bodies to be locked and unlocked such that when said two bodies are locked together said two bodies have a circular configuration with an opening therethrough at the center thereof such that said two bodies may be removeably mounted to said weightlifting curl bar.

       2 . The barbell weight recited in claim 1 where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies.

       3 . The barbell weight recited in claim 1 where said opening has a circular configuration having a sufficient radius dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar.

       4 . The barbell weight recited in  claim 1  where said opening has a regular polygon configuration having an apothem of sufficient dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar;

       5 . The barbell weight recited in  claim 1  where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies;

       6 . A barbell weight plate for weightlifting curl bars comprising:
 (a) two bodies hingedly connected to close together or separate; and, (b) latch means associated with said two bodies for latching and unlatching said two bodies to permit said two bodies to be locked and unlocked such that when said two bodies are locked together said two bodies have a polygon configuration with an opening therethrough at the center thereof such that said two bodies may be removeably mounted to said weightlifting curl bar.

       7 . The barbell weight recited in claim 6 where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies.

       8 . The barbell weight recited in claim 6 where said opening has a circular configuration having a sufficient radius dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar.

       9 . The barbell weight recited in  claim 6  where said opening has a regular polygon configuration having an apothem of sufficient dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar;

       10 . The barbell weight recited in  claim 6  where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies;

       11 . A barbell weight plate for weightlifting curl bars comprising:
 (a) two bodies hingedly connected to close together or separated; and, (b) latch means associated with said two bodies for latching and unlatching said two bodies to permit said two bodies to be locked and unlocked such that when said two bodies are locked together said two bodies have a triangular configuration with an opening therethrough at the center thereof such that said two bodies may be removeably mounted to said weightlifting curl bar.

       12 . The barbell weight recited in claim 11 where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies.

       13 . The barbell weight recited in claim 11 where said opening has a circular configuration having a sufficient radius dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar.

       14 . The barbell weight recited in  claim 11  where said opening has a polygon configuration having an apothem of sufficient dimension to permit said opening to compressively engage said weightlifting curl bar;

       15 . The barbell weight recited in claim 11 where said latch means comprises a latch member carried by one of said two bodies and a latch pin carried by the other of said two bodies.
