Necklace with interchangeable objects for entertaining and pacifying infants and young children

Abstract

A necklace to which interchangeable entertaining objects can be attached to entertain infants and young children while being held by a person, allowing the person to focus on other tasks. The necklace may have a clip, clasp or similar device to which the interchangeable entertaining objects are attached. The interchangeable entertaining objects may be equipped with a suitable mounting system, such as a pierced hole, for attachment to the clip, clasp or similar device. The objects may be interchangeable, and multiple objects maybe attached simultaneously. The objects maybe made of any desired decorative appearance and materials.

1 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child, comprising: 
 a device that is securable and suspendable around a neck of a user;    a retaining mechanism connected to the neck device; and    an interchangeable entertainment object interchangeably and securely connected to the retaining mechanism within easy reach of the young child being held by the user, the interchangeable entertainment object being age appropriate and made of colors, materials, and shapes that entertain and pacify the young child.    
   
   
       2 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the neck device comprises one of a necklace, chain, tether, cord, or filament.  
   
   
       3 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object is for a newborn child less than three months in age.  
   
   
       4 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object is for a child three to nine months in age.  
   
   
       5 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object is for a child more than nine months in age.  
   
   
       6 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 3 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object comprises contrasting primary colors.  
   
   
       7 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 3 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object promotes chewing and provides a visual stimulus to the child.  
   
   
       8 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 4 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object comprises bright colors and textures.  
   
   
       9 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child as recited in  claim 5 , wherein the interchangeable entertainment object comprises shapes, pictures, and letters that can be used as a learning device.  
   
   
       10 . An apparatus for entertaining and pacifying a young child, comprising: 
 a necklace that is securable and suspendable around a neck of a user;    a clasp connected to the necklace; and    an interchangeable entertainment object having a hole provided therethrough for interchangeably and securely connecting to the clasp within easy reach of the young child being held by the user, the interchangeable entertainment object being age appropriate and made of colors, materials, and shapes that entertain and pacify the young child, wherein the interchangeable entertainment object comprises one of: 
 contrasting primary colors for a newborn child less than three months in age,  
 bright colors and textures for child three to nine months in age, or  
 shapes, pictures, and letters that can be used as a learning device for a child more than nine months in age.
