Abstract

A wall mounted protective guard is located below a wall switch, alarm pull box station, thermostat or the like to prevent damage, inadvertent operation or actuation of the device. In the preferred embodiment the guard is a curved member located adjacent and below the device in order to receive and deflect objects that otherwise would contact the device. The guard may have a reflective feature to allow the switch or like device to be located in dark or emergency situations. The guard allows for full access to wall mounted devices by individuals having limited range of motion or disabilities.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A deflector type wall mounted guard providing bumper means for protecting a device attached to a wall and having a depth extending from said wall and having a width and a height, the improvement comprising:
said wall mounted guard having connecting means attached to said wall and also having deflecting means with means located away from said wall a distance at least equal to the depth of the device attached to said wall and being protected by said bumper means.

2 . The wall mounted guard of claim 1 , including:
said deflecting means providing an arcuate body with means extending away from said wall to thereby protect said device attached to said wall.

3 . The wall mounted guard of claim 1 , and said deflecting means including:
an arcuate body having a width extending at least the width of the wall mounted device being protected by said bumper means.

4 . The wall mounted guard of claim 1 , and said deflecting means including:
an arcuate body having a height at least the height of the device attached to said wall and being protected by said bumper means.

5 . The wall mounted guard of claim 1 , including:
said connecting means for attaching the wall guard to said wall include fastener means attached to said wall at a location in vertical alignment with the device being protected by said bumper means.

6 . The wall mounted guard of claim 1 , wherein said deflecting means includes:
first and second members with means located in horizontal alignment with said device being protected by said bumper means; said first and second members having a height equal or greater than the height of the device being protected to thereby prevent damage to said device.

7 . A wall mounted guard for protecting wall mounted fixtures such as switches, alarm pull boxes, thermostats and the like, and comprising cam means located adjacent said fixture and providing deflecting means extending from said wall to guide objects away from the wall and the fixture to thereby prevent damage to the fixture.

8 . The wall mounted guard of claim 7 , and including: means attaching said wall guard in vertical alignment with said fixture.

9 . The wall mounted guard of claim 7 , and including: means attaching said 1 guard in horizontal alignment with said fixture.

10 . The wall mounted guard of claim 7 , wherein said cam means includes:
a pair of cam members in horizontal alignment.
