Abstract
An applicator device for applying a containment border to an analytic plate. The containment border is substantially transparent, translucent or invisible and is substantially flush with the surface of the plate. The applicator device contains a composition (preferably a liquid) which preferably comprises a polysiloxane, siloxane, silicone, a silane, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof, and optionally an acid.

a reservoir and an applicator end, the reservoir containing a quantity of a composition, and wherein when the applicator end is appressed to a surface of a glass or plastic analytic plate, the composition flows from the reservoir through the applicator end to the surface of the glass or plastic analytic plate forming a colorless containment border which does not alter the refractive index of the glass or plastic analytic plate when viewed through a microscope, and wherein the colorless containment border has a thickness less than 0.0001 inch.

a reservoir and an applicator end, the reservoir containing a quantity of a composition, and wherein when the applicator end is appressed to a surface of a glass or plastic analytic plate, the composition flows from the reservoir through the applicator end to the surface of the glass or plastic analytic plate forming a colorless containment border which does not alter the refractive index of the glass or plastic analytic plate when viewed through a microscope and wherein the colorless containment border is highly resistant to removal or abrasion, and wherein the colorless containment border has a thickness less than 0.0001 inch.

a reservoir and an applicator end, the reservoir containing a quantity of a composition, and wherein when the applicator end is appressed to a surface of a glass, plastic or ceramic analytic plate, the composition flows from the reservoir through the applicator end to the surface of the analytic plate forming a colorless containment border having a thickness of less than 0.00001 inch.
