Luggage assembly

Abstract

A luggage assembly includes an upright tubular member, upper and lower mounting seat members, upper and lower horizontal plate members, a luggage shell, and a pull handle unit. The upper and lower mounting seat members are mounted respectively on top and bottom end portions of the upright tubular member. The upper and lower horizontal plate members are mounted respectively on the upper and lower mounting seat members. The luggage shell is disposed to surround the upright tubular member, the mounting seat members and the horizontal plate members, and is formed with welts. The pull handle unit is disposed externally of the luggage shell, and includes a mounting seat fastened to the upper mounting seat member and the upper horizontal plate member, and a handle member pivotally retained on the mounting seat.

1 . A luggage assembly comprising: 
 an upright tubular member having top and bottom end portions;    upper and lower mounting seat members, each of which is made of a rigid plastic material and has front and rear end portions, each of said front and rear end portions of each of said upper and lower mounting seat members having top and bottom sides, said rear end portions of said upper and lower mounting seat members being mounted respectively on said top and bottom end portions of said upright tubular member;    upper and lower horizontal plate members, each of which has front and rear end portions and is made of a rigid plastic material, said upper horizontal plate member being mounted on said bottom side of said front end portion of said upper mounting seat member, said lower horizontal plate member being mounted on said top side of said front end portion of said lower mounting seat member;    a luggage shell made of fabric and disposed to surround said upright tubular member, said upper and lower mounting seat members, and said upper and lower horizontal plate members, said luggage shell including a front wall, a rear wall, a side wall connected to said front and rear walls, a first welt formed at a juncture of said front and side walls, and a second welt formed at a juncture of said rear and side walls; and    a pull handle unit disposed externally of said luggage shell and including a mounting seat fastened to said front end portion of said upper mounting seat member and said upper horizontal plate member, and a handle member pivotally retained on said mounting seat.    
   
   
       2 . The luggage assembly as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said upper and lower horizontal plate members are free of a reinforcing frame connection therebetween.  
   
   
       3 . The luggage assembly as claimed in  claim 1 , further comprising an extension handle member extendable and retractable through said luggage shell and said upright tubular member.  
   
   
       4 . The luggage assembly as claimed in  claim 1 , further comprising a wheel unit disposed externally of said luggage shell and fastened to said lower horizontal plate member.  
   
   
       5 . The luggage assembly as claimed in  claim 4 , further comprising a foot post unit disposed externally of said luggage shell and fastened to said lower horizontal plate member and said lower mounting seat member.  
   
   
       6 . The luggage assembly as claimed in  claim 5 , wherein said foot post unit and said wheel unit are disposed respectively at said front and rear end portions of said lower horizontal plate member.
