Metal fireblock

Abstract

This disclosure is directed to a bracket for the proper and fireproof spacing of vertical and horizontal framing members. The bracket is a replacement for traditional wood fireblocks seen in framing. The device has extruded metal flanges for additional support and has nail hole perforations for proper fastening. There are two versions of the units, one spaced 14½ inches for 16 inches on center and 22½ inches for 24 inches on center.

1 . A metal fireblock comprising: 
 a metal bracket, horizontally disposed flanged assembly for the bracing and proper distance spacing of horizontal and vertical framing members;    said bracket with nail holes properly placed in the bracket connecting arm for the proper nailing into the wood framing members;    said bracket with a risen portion of extruded same metal in the longwise portion of said bracket as well as an extruded same metal in the connecting arm portion of said bracket.    
   
   
       2 . The metal fireblock of  claim 1 , whereby the fireblock is of one peice of metal.  
   
   
       3 . The metal fireblock of  claim 2  whereby the length of the fireblock is of two fixed lengths and made to install between framing members.  
   
   
       4 . The metal fireblock of  claim 3  whereby the actual distance of the length of the fireblock are both 14½ inches long and 22½ inches long.
