Abstract

A mop head for use with an elongated handle coupled to a mop head frame, the mop head frame having a generally rectangular, planar body, wherein the mop head includes a fabric envelope assembly having a plurality of rectangular extensions. The envelope assembly is structured to enclose the mop head frame. The plurality of rectangular extensions are coupled to the lower side of the fabric envelope assembly.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A mop head for use with an elongated handle coupled to a mop head frame, said mop head frame having a generally planar body, said mop head comprising:
a fabric envelope assembly structured to enclose said mop head frame and having an upper side and a lower side; and said fabric envelope assembly lower side having a plurality of rectangular extensions.

2 . The mop head of claim 1 wherein the aspect ratio of each said rectangular extension is between about 0.5 and 4.5.

3 . The mop head of claim 1 , wherein the aspect ratio of said each extension is about 3.5.

4 . The mop head of claim 3 , wherein said extensions have a length between about 0.5 inch and 4.5 inches.

5 . The mop head of claim 3 , wherein all said extensions are generally the same size.

6 . The mop head of claim 3 , wherein said extensions are disposed in a plurality of rows.

7 . The mop head of claim 6 , wherein said extensions in each said row are aligned with said extensions in another row.

8 . The mop head of claim 6 , wherein said extensions in each said row are staggered relative to said extensions in another row.

9 . The mop head of claim 6 , wherein:
each extension is formed from a V-shaped strip of fabric, each said V-shaped strips of fabric having a vertex; and each said V-shaped strip of fabric coupled to said envelope assembly lower side at said vertex.

10 . The mop head of claim 9 , wherein:
said plurality of extensions formed from a V-shaped strip of fabric includes a first, outer set of extensions and a second, inner set of extensions; and the vertices of said first, outer set of extensions and the vertices of said second, inner set of extensions are disposed along a line.

11 . The mop head of claim 1 , wherein said fabric envelope assembly includes a mop head frame mounting device.

12 . The mop head of claim 11 , wherein said mounting device includes a plurality of elastic bands coupled to said upper side and structured to secure the envelope assembly to said mop head frame.

13 . The mop head of claim 11 , wherein said mounting device includes a plurality of hook and loop strips coupled to said upper side and structured to secure the envelope assembly to said mop head frame.

14 . The mop head of claim 1 , wherein said envelope assembly is constructed of a fabric selected from the group consisting of: resinous foam, felt, cotton, cloth, synthetic sponge, chamois, or synthetic chamois.

15 . The mop head of claim 14 , wherein said extensions are constructed of a fabric selected from the group consisting of: resinous foam, felt, cotton, cloth, synthetic sponge, chamois, or synthetic chamois.

16 . The mop head of claim 1 , wherein said extensions are constructed of a fabric selected from the group consisting of: resinous foam, felt, cotton, cloth, synthetic sponge, chamois, or synthetic chamois.

       17 . A mop comprising:
an elongated handle; a mop head frame having a planar, generally rectangular body, said mop head frame coupled to said handle; a fabric envelope assembly structured to enclose said mop head frame and having an upper side and a lower side; and said fabric envelope assembly lower side having a plurality of rectangular extensions.

18 . The mop of claim 17 , wherein the aspect ratio of each said rectangular extension is between about 0.5 and 4.5.

19 . The mop of claim 17 , wherein the aspect ratio of said each extension is about 3.5.

20 . The mop of claim 19 , wherein said extensions have a length between about 0.5 and 4.5.

21 . The mop of claim 19 , wherein all said extensions are generally the same size.

22 . The mop of claim 19 , wherein said extensions are disposed in a plurality of rows.

23 . The mop of claim 22 , wherein said extensions in each said row are aligned with said extensions in another row.

24 . The mop of claim 22 , wherein said extensions in each said row are staggered relative to said extensions in another row.
