Multi-purpose recreational blanket

Abstract

The present invention is a multi-purpose recreational blanket that serves as a lying pad and a means to store and transport desirable and necessary recreational items. The present invention comprises a multi-purpose blanket having an underside that may be dragged across the sand, and a lying pad. The lying pad may further comprise a pillow holder and optional blowup pillow device. The area in-between the underside and lying pad of the present invention forms a storage unit. One or more compartments are housed therein such that desirable items including clothing, shoes, coolers and like items may be conveniently and securely stored and transported. In one preferred embodiment, mesh or transparent material is used for the lying pad allowing stored items to be seen, and therefore easily accounted for and accessed. Velcro, or other desirable connection devices, partially surrounds the periphery of the lying pad and the storage compartment. The present invention may be dragged across sand or similar surfaces, with contents in tow, by virtue of one or more positioned straps. The present invention may be easily stored or transported by tying it together by its straps, or inserting it in a carry bag. One or more geometrically positioned handles may be used by one, or more, people in order to most efficiently transport the blanket and its contents.

1 . A recreational blanket comprising 
 an underside;    a lying pad at least partially connected to said underside;    a storage compartment disposed between said underside and said lying pad; and    a strap mounted to said underside.    
   
   
       2 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said lying pad is made of transparent material.  
   
   
       3 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising wherein said lying pad is made of mesh material.  
   
   
       4 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said underside and said lying pad are connected by Velcro material.  
   
   
       5 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a pocket positioned on said lying pad.  
   
   
       6 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a pocket positioned on said underside.  
   
   
       7 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said lying pad is of square, rectangular, oval or circular shape.  
   
   
       8 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a carry bag wherein said recreational blanket may be stored.  
   
   
       9 . A recreational blanket comprising 
 a lying pad; and    a storage compartment positioned adjacent to said lying pad, said storage compartment having an underside and a top side.    
   
   
       10 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said lying pad is made of transparent material.  
   
   
       11 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising wherein said lying pad is made of mesh material.  
   
   
       12 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a pillow holder mounted to said lying pad.  
   
   
       13 . A recreational blanket in  claim 12  further comprising a blow-up pillow disposed within said pillow holder.  
   
   
       14 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a pocket positioned on said storage compartment.  
   
   
       15 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a strap mounted to said underside.  
   
   
       16 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a set of handles disposed thereon.  
   
   
       17 . A recreational blanket in  claim 16  wherein said set of handles are positioned in a triangular configuration.  
   
   
       18 . A recreational blanket in  claim 16  further comprising an opening formed on said storage compartment for allowing insertion of said set of handles.  
   
   
       19 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said underside and said top side are connected by Velcro material.  
   
   
       20 . A method of transporting recreational items, comprising: 
 inserting items within a storage compartment, said storage compartment having an underside;    grasping a strap, said strap physically connected to said storage compartment; and    pulling said storage compartment across a distance.
